Canucks top Devils, Schneider in shootout

**Am I the only one who thinks Patrick Elias looks like a clown? No offense to the guy, great player, but just look at the three stars selections tonight

**Can Deboer please stop mixing the Gionta, Bernier and Carter line with other teams top lines. First off I believe that team can score against other teams, so putting them in a defensive mode against other teams top guns puts them at a disadvantage. All our lines showed last night we back check and play decent D just let them roll. It makes no sense to skip lines cause the other team puts their top guns out then a line with Ryder has to sit for 2 shifts. We're built on 4 lines who produce and wear teams out now let them. As far as Gelinas goes please keep him and Larsson together for years to come.

**I haven't seen a more unlucky team than the Devils this entire calendar year (last shortened season and beginning this season). Watching/being at all the games and advanced stats, you name it, Devils are outplaying opponents night-in and night-out and losing. It's becoming very frustrating.

**What's to explain? Schneider didn't do a thing for us and his .200 career playoff winning % is just plain embarrassing and his mental breakdown in the 2011 playoffs where he had to be carried off the ice after a penalty shot goal.

**In all honesty, we're not that bad. We've gotten 4 points because of OT games. It would be another story if we lose all the games with a big margin. The games are pretty even all the time. Don't worry, we'll get it together. Develop good chemistry with all the new guys

**Would be nice IF they would finally start to develop some chemistry. Apart fromSchneider, Ryder, Jagr and Zid, everybody is underperforming on their squad. Sadly.

**That loss is totally on Schneider...his team gave him every chance in the world to win and he fell flat on his face...me thinks the elite goaltender talk is somewhat premature...someone said he hasn't been the problem, but he certainly hasn't been the solution either

**as a season ticket holder last night was a fun game to be at...the story here is gelinas..he was quick, smart on defense, and scored a goal...we really did play a full complete 60 minute game..i love cory but he has to learn how to handle the puck better...marty will teach him that...its tough times..but what fans would we be if we only rooted for them when they're good..its a tough time...but it can only get better!!

**Thank you. We are getting better and the team will come around. Play-offs? Probably not. But we'll be better soon. We still stand behind these guys, tough season or not. Our prospects, based on Gels last night, are looking good. We have good things in our future.

**I was at the game last night. Not too happy with the result, but the team played pretty well. Gelinas was amazing. He hit, he shot, he scored, he passed, and did just about anything to convince DeBoer to stay on the roster. Schneider wasn't great, I think everyone already knows that though. And while he may be to blame, just keep in mind that the team is a combined 0-12 in three shootouts. I personally think Ryder, Loktionov, and Steve Bernier should get chances in the shootout. I know some might disagree, but when our "top" forwards aren't scoring in the shootout, put shooters in that goalies aren't familiar with. Let's just hope they bounce back vs. Boston. Go Devils!!

**That was the same exact response I got from the Edmonton game. Forget about the shootout? Seriously? That's the difference between a win and a loss, even if they do get one point. Bad goals happen, and you can't dwell on it. When the game goes into a shootout, you need to do whatever it takes to get that extra point. So no, as long as the shootout remains a method for tie-braking, the Devils need to do whatever it takes to win a shootout.

**No, the difference between a win and a loss when a game ends 2-2 in regulation is the fact that your goaltender let in not one but two terrible goals...again, forget about the shootout...as has been stated many times, the shootout is nothing but a gimmick

**So what I'm getting from you, is that if the game is tied after 65 minutes, we should just throw up our hands in the air and accept the loss? I know it's a gimmick, I completely agree, but think about it, the Devils are 0-3 in the shootout. If they won 2 out of those three, their record would be 3-5-2 with 8 points. It's still better than 1-5-4 with 6 points. If you want to see the OT loss column stack up from shootout losses, that's your problem, but when it goes into a shootout, you don't dwell on whatever happened in the game, you go for that extra point.

**Yeah, the two goals were kinda silly, but Jersey outshot the 'Nucks 17-7 in the third and had a number of good looks...no goals. Our ability to dominate possession is nice, but we need to convert. Schneids took this on himself and said it could've been 2-0 if not for him - honestly, it could have easily been 5-2, and probably should have been. Bottom line: If we can't win games with two goals against us (desserved or not), we aren't going to win many games this year.

**Henrique, had Luongo beat, 1-2" to the right and it was in. In the last year everytime we get in a shoot out, I pretty much just turn the game off, because I know the ending to that story. Lost our two best shoot out guys, Parise, and Kovy. SO line up should be Henrique, Ryder, Patty. Zajac is garbage in the shootout.

**Next on to St. Louis to play a team who has been waiting around for a week to play, against a Canuck team who have played 4 games in that time and going in playing back to back games. Seriously, what kind of chance does the team have with that kind of BS scheduling?

**That's the way the schedule works. All teams have their rough patches, except for the teams that don't, what good's whining and crying going to do about it? That's like complaining that the refs are out to get you

**We all know our Devils are building momentum after the past 3 games just played 3/6 points earned in the standings. The Devils are starting to be building better chemistry in the hopper and before you know it a wonderful brew of success will be there for the rest of the year. Think about what Lou will do by bringing up Merrill and trading a guy like Salvador or Volchenkov.

**the past 3 games? did you watch the game in columbus? we played well against a poorly performing rangers squad, we forgot to turn up in columbus. tonight was real good performance not the ending i wanted though, but if we can continue to play like tonight on a more consistent basis then we're heading in the right direction and PDB may still be our coach at the end of the year.

**I think the Devils` defense needs to be rebuilt a bit, Volchenkov and Salvador make too many mistakes. They do not bring into the play what they were believed to do - toughness, consistency and experience. Devils are also struggling with scoring. A good thing is that they can create a lot of scoring chances each game. With Elias` return Devils get even stronger as he`s the real leader of this franchise for many years, one of the most underrated players playing in NHL. But tonight`s performance is a good prospect of better tomorrows.
