**we will take the win..... so far I see vinny, b. schenn, rinaldo, and mason look good..... Giroux is asked to do too much and plays like the weight of the world is on his shoulders..... $16 mil of wasted cap space on Coburn, hartnell, and sad to say timonen(he looks bad)
**In the short term - a win is a win and I'll take the two points no matter how they get them. In the long term - you have to worry a bit because even though it's been 4 games, lack of sustained offensive pressure and goals scored will hurt the team down the road. It's early enough to fix the issues and improve so we don't yet know what kind of team the Flyers are. Some players are off to slow starts, let's see if they can step it up.
**Mez was probably one of my favorite players 2 years ago. Unfortunately I think 2 injury-filled years has taken it's toll. As much as I'd love to see him return to form & be the good player he was, it's almost painful to watch him right now. Thank God for solid goaltending. When was the last time we could say that in Philly?
**Berube needs to work on 1 on 1 battles. It seems to me like the flyers lost 90% of them, that was the glaring problem I saw. If you cant win the 1 on 1 battles your never going to get that flow of steady offense or be able to get out of the defensive zone.
**Im sorry Dave, but are you watching these games? Were the only team I watch on gamecenter live who cant complete a pass and we just dont even look like we know each other. G has to score and has to be now, my opinion has started to change on him, especially with this golf injury being the elephant in the room. He should stay off the golf course and not be injured the five weeks before the season! This is unacceptable from a captain and is obviously hurting his game. He cant shoot, those shots he has are going like maybe 60 mph, so he must be feeling that finger or why would every shot he has so far be such a muffin. Call it to early, call it what you will, but this season has probably started out worse then I thought it could.
**Yea I am watching the games and yes they aren't playing very well but it has still only been 4 games. And this thing with Giroux getting hurt in the off-season. I guess guys aren't allowed to enjoy themselves in the summer according to you. He was playing golf and his club exploded. How often does that happen? What should the players do during their free time? If he burned his hand in the kitchen should he not be allowed to cook anymore? Sorry but fans are overracting after only one week of hockey. Im seeing comments from fans about teams that are playing well and they are ready to give their team the cup.
**The headline of the articles reminds me of how I congratulate my 4 yr old son when he helps mommy with the dishes.
**Flyers win first game under new coach Berube is what you tell your 4 yr old after he helps mommy with the dishes?
**I guess Tim Thomas is finding that Life as a NHL Goaltender is Tough when your not playing for a great defensive team like the Bruins!!
**There's nothing Thomas could have done about those goals. The first goal was pure luck and he injured himself on the second. Please watch before you comment.
**He could have been less aggressive of on both goals. I know being aggressive is his bread and butter, but he is 39 and sat out an entire year. Can't keep that style up. Makes you wonder if that played into his injury.
**Nothing he coulda done about pulling his groin out apparently on the second one except realizing that a 40 year old goalie probably shouldn't take a year off and then decide to come back to play in the NHL. The first goal was not pure luck... it took a bounce off the boards behind him and ended up out in front, he put himself way out of position! Schenn was rushing the net and put himself in perfect position ready for a rebound and...... goal. Thomas was diving all over the place. Im not doubting that he was among the elite but, hey he's got a little rust to dust off here obviously.
**half true, he over commits and needs the crease to be cleared for him, but he is also really old. hahah
**Hopefully Mason can keep it up until Giroux and the rest of the team comes around. Atleast Berube has a couple days to work with them until they play Phoenix on Friday.
**Panthers were the better team and they lost. It wasn't because of the goalie, not because of the young guys or the way they played, but because of Mason. I really enjoyed this match after being afraid that the night goes on with me ban ging my hands to the sofa in frustration! Keep it up Panthers!
**bad AND unlucky? theres just really nothing to say for the panthers. i cant imagine any universe where theyre winners. its insanity. wouldnt matter if we drafted first a million times just like edmonton. somehow the good teams that pick 17th get players like Hertl and that other sick rookie the sharks have and we get gudbranson and bouwmeester and a myriad of other horrendous picks the panthers have had throughout their history. i cant think of one player weve ever drafted high that turned into a bonafied star (and we certainly never buy any established stars) and for that reason dont think hub or barkov will ever be more than 60-70 point scorers. the panthers are just cursed to the core. how can it always be so bad? what ever happened to sometimes good? does anyone else think that over 20 years theyve proved to be the least exciting, and all around worst team in NHL history? and before the knee jerk reaction to thumb any negative comment down because ur NHL forum users and u only like things like "dont worry itll get better" or "i bleed panthers in my tiny little hearty heart while unicorns jump over rainbows" seriously ponder why at this point the fans shouldnt just level the BB&T center so that the cats never come home from this road trip. why do we need this aggravation any more? for real. ITS ENOUGH. and no i wont go watch the dolphins. i like hockey and have no other teaaaaammmm!!! what is a guy supposed to do here?!?
**i can almost hear a dumb pens fan foaming at the mouth while dragging his knuckles on the ground to tell me to kill myself. thanks in advance for the advice man!
**Calm down man. Bouwmeester was a very solid player for Florida for a long time. Huber and Barkov are going to be point-per-game players. I think that Florida has one of the most exciting rosters, you guys have a bright future.
**I don't share your enthusiasm either, coldplay. This is the second game in a row where we failed to score enough goals to win a game (we needed 3, we could only get 1). On Saturday, we failed to even get a single goal, and got completely humiliated 7 - 0 by St. Louis. It's no longer becoming a joke for Panthers fans. We're getting pîssed off now. We had numerous rebuilds; they all failed. This team is actually worse than last year's so far. At least last year, we were able to score more than 1 goal per game. All of this veteran talent, all of this high draft talent, and we can't get more than 1 goal. I just don't know what to think any more. But it's no longer a laughing matter. If they are secretly wanting to bankrupt the team, then they're succeeding, for if they continue to put this atrocity of a product on the ice for their fans, they're just slapping us in the face and telling us to deal with it, and there's only so much we're going to take. We've been loyal for 20 years, and only seen the playoffs 4 times. This team needs something, but I haven't a clue what it needs anymore. The only thing left to do is replace the coach and see if a style change will work.
**you relax, its been 20 years. panthersfanalways is right despite the irony of his name based on his statement :) but i obviously agree completely. we are the most tortured fanbase in hockey history. i dont care that the blues dont have a cup or the blue jackets garbage or any other nonsensical equivalency. noone disappoints like the panthers. they are the worst franchise in nhl history y a mile. and its not just the losing. its the way we lose. about 5 years ago we set an nhl record for most games given up in the final minute......and then we broke it the next year! they are a soul crushing time wasting piece of nothing team that will never be good until theyre moved. the minute theyre moved, theyll pull a jets/avs and win the cup just to say a final F you to the fans before moving on
**I would definitely not say we are worse than last year. We were just awful last year. At least they generate chances this year and don't give up a goal on every single PK. Sure, our PP was better last year but I really do feel that good things can still happen this year. We are much better than even I expected.
**Just relax. The Panthers aren't the first team to ever start a season 1-2 or only score one goal in two games. Give it some time. A lot of young players with tremendous potential in the Panthers lineup along with a bunch of new veterans. Takes time for that kind of roster to come together. If their still struggling at the end of the month then you can start to panic.
