**Alot of people are ripping on Washington's play, although I dont think they played their best game by any means but the Rangers probably did on the season. Thought the Rangers played well on both sides of the puck. GG Rangers!

**The fact that neither team ever goes very far. It's a reasonable assumption based upon that...along with their horrid starts to the season.

**the FACT that neither team EVER goes very far. Yeah, that's true? duh.... I love when people present a fact that isn't anything near a fact and then use an absolute like ever.

**Big W I N we needed that one. penalty killers great job.yes, Ranger faithfuls their is hope LETS GO, LETS GO RANGERS.

**So far its a season of two teams, two ranger teams that is. They need to pick the one last night and against LA and stick with it. Worried about Nash, if you watch the two hits that gave him concussions, lucic and the last one, they weren't that hard, he seems like he gets concussions fairly easily. Anyone remember the Lindros brothers? Does anyone know if he had any concussions prior to joining the rangers?

**i don't want to get ahead of myself but the Rangers could start a decent winning streak after this game, they play the Devils, Flyers and Red Wings.....2 of those games are very winnable

**Right?! If we get that it's a whole new game. The Caps already had a mental game going with Lundqvist because he shut us out twice in a row (now three). Him missing that probably made every player think "Can we score on this guy?"

**If anyone actually believes this is how the Caps are going to play for all 82 games than you don't know anything about hockey. There are 82 games, plenty of time to adjust. The Caps have solid players so it's just a matter of getting them working together as a unit. It will come and Caps will be a tough team to beat. It hasn't even been 10% of the season and people are acting like it's January. Calm down. Stop having kneejerk reactions and let the team mold a little.

**How is anyone having a "knee-jerk reaction" to how the Caps are playing? Their record speaks as loud as their on-ice play. They have been playing messy hockey missing key passes, not taking advantage of powerplays and simply getting out worked in and out of their zone. Sure it's early in the season and yes there is still plenty of time for the Caps to turn it around but if they continue to play the way they have been playing, the turn around will be long and painful.

**Right I agree with you that it is early in the season, but the Caps are giving people plenty of ammo to say they are done for the season already. They aren't skating hard for the full 60 minutes, they are being out played by teams night in and night out. The star players are not producing the goals needed to push the team forward and #8 has been less than stellar in almost all the games so fa

**come on man, caps are done with. everyone wanted to get rid of Bruce, so we did and where are we now and where is he? we should just get the eliminated from playoffs mark already cause there is no way we are getting in this year with this division and this type of play. it just hurts to watch them, no matter who coaches the team.

**I don't think any of us will "want" it. But, with the cap and all the UFAs next year we might "have" to. He's a completely different player this year which is great to see. Hopefully he doesn't get fatigued because last year it just looked like a lack of conditioning on his part.

**I hear ya. But that doesn't mean it's not going to be a long season. I remember when they went to the SC finals...and believe me that was a long season too.

**The 70's were long seasons in Washington. Every team storming through " The Cap's Center " seemed bigger & better ; and even the late-owner needed to be convinced not to move the Cap's to a different city. As for this season - I'm expecting Washington to begin really turning things up a few notches, settle into their teams system, and eventually make the playoffs. After that it's anybody's guess isn't it?

**Right, cause I remember the interview with Staal, and he mentioned that they might have had a chance against San Jose if only the Division name had been changed by 5pm that night.

**Amazing how a team could look so asleep then play so well.Their inconsistency has always been their biggest enemy. Love it when Ovechkin gets stonewalled.

**Tom Wilson is a beast, and he's only going to get bigger, stronger, and tougher in the near future. The last time the Washington Capitals brought up a youngster who's both this talented and easily annoyed - was Cap's all-time fan favorite player: Scott Stevens.

**Another Ranger lying on this ice after being decked by a questionable head shot and once again, no retaliation by the Rangers. No one came to their teammate's defense. The Rangers are the softest, most gutless team in the league. The whole league knows you can take runs at the Rangers with no fear of retribution. Totally unacceptable.

**you gonna pay the $50K fine, and 2 game suspension for retaliating after the whistle, not to mention give the other team a powerplay, possibly giving up the shutout for Hank? That's why you're on the outside of the glass looking in.

**Yes, I would risk the fine to back my team mate on that. In addition, you rarely see a fine give when this happens, I have seen plenty of times where teams come to the aid of another player and no additional penalty is given.

**Forget GAbo, what is with Ovie on the Rangers second goal. Just standing completely still in no mans land while his teammates do the work. He had no man covered. That is one part of his game that is very frustrating to watch. Yes he can shoot a wicked shot, can gather speed when he has the puck. I don't think he will ever get it. Should blame himself for this loss. He is Backstrom use to be tight, I said it last year and I see it again this year, I don't think they are that close anymore. I think Bacstrom is frustrated with Ovie.

**Never mind that, of his 54 career shutouts (including playoffs), the only team Lunqvist has shut out more often than the Caps (7 times) is the Devils (9). Also, that was his third consecutive shutout against the Caps. Hardly an isolated incident. Certain teams play better against certain opposition. Also, this was the Rangers first game in the East this season, so you can't really compare it to the first five as the styles are so markedly different.

**Yes, you're right, Rangers definitely know how to play against Caps and Ovechkin. I remember that Ovi got only 2 points in 7 games of the playoff series. But I think good players and teams should be able learn from their mistakes and get better.

**I see where you are coming from, but you still have to save the breakaways and the 2-on-0's when the defence let you down. A shot on goal has still made it pas the D and through to the goalie, so he still has to save it. Blocked shots, poke checks and the like don't count in the goalie stats, Lundqvust still faced 22 shots last night, and turned them all away.

**Re "Lundqvust still faced 22 shots last night, and turned them all away.". The number of shots doesn't tell anything specific. You know, unscreened wrister from a blue line and a shot from 3 feets against wide open net during 2-on-1 breakout both count as a shot on goal. Statistic is a great thing, but you need to analyze it in order to get right conclusions.

**Again, I see what you are saying, but to imply I didn't make the correct conclusion is wrong. Stats say 22 shots faced, 22 saved, save percentage 1.000. The only conclusion you can draw from that data is the one I drew - he saved all the shots he faced, regardless of the situation of each individual shot faced. Surely a good goalie is one that can save the unscreened wristers from the blue line as well as the 2-on-1's, the chances with traffic in front and all the rest of it.
