**Hamhuis tried to blame on Garrison in the locker room and by judging his reaction on the ice, he seemed to be blaming Luongo. Hamhuis was the last Canuck to intentionally play the puck and he fanned on it...in my opinion, Hamhuis should be taking responsibility. Bad teammate throwing his D partner and Goaltender under the bus like that. Seems to be an example of the 'team' attitude going on in VAN right now. How can you blame them with the way Gillis is running things.
**Hodgsn for Kassian, Schneider for a draft pick, Fires one of the most successful coaches in franchise history for a loud mouth bum, signs Luongo to a ridiculous contract that he couldn't unload. How much more damage will this sweaty blow-hard be allowed to make before ownership shows him the door?
**one more bad trade or inability to make it to the cup finals and imo he's out. i have a feeling he'll be out in 2 years if the canucks don't make it to the cup finals again
**So, I've heard a lot of complaints from fellow Canucks fans. The fact is that the Habs out-played us. Price was unbelievable, and our top scorers couldn't stop him. Add a miscommunication in front of the net that resulted in an own goal (which Montreal can't be blamed for) I think that we Canucks fans should take the loss, and that our team can do better in future games.
**HELLNO, the third period definitely, but overall we were much better. Carey Price did better and our defense screwedover Luongo in every possible way from an own goal to giving it away to letting in a horrible two on none like onetimer[third goal]
**And to think the last time Price had a game like this he faced 42 shots and let in 2 facing Carolina last season. The part I really enjoyed though was Carey not getting a bloated ego after a performance like that. He knows he's only part of a puzzle and the odds are by this time tomorrow people may want him impaled on a spike and paraded through downtown MTL
**man after watching last nights game i lost a lot of respect for the Habs. People say Vancouver is bad and i agree they're not exactly innocent but I had always thought of the canadiens as hard working honest team until last night. Between Pacioretty's shameless dive to draw the penalty show i know he was slashed but a light slashed to the hockey pants doenst knock anyone over...it doesnt even hurt. Or what about subbans classlessness I know its not news to anyone that hes an arrogant whiner but that blatant attempt to hurt henrik sedin with a slash to the face off the play away from the puck was just gutless. GUTLESS. None of the candiens players were fighting through any contact and whether it was a penalty on the canuck or not when you see the canadien player embellish it regardless it really makes your stomach churn. The best thing John Tortarella has brought to the vancouver organization is his no non sense attitude for garbage like that.
**u don't know much about the Habs do you. The "Canadians" have a strong following ACROSS CANADA. Go to ANY arena in Canada when the Habs are playing, you'll see a good turnout. Of course, I can see how some people don't really understand that, it's a really difficult concept - paying a little attention to other Habs games in Canada probably wouldn't be a bad idea, so, you know, you don't come off sounding like an asshat.
**Have to completely agree with this comment. Price kept us in the first two periods while Vancouver was throwing bombs at him. Luckily our D tightened up after the second. Rogers arena with 1/3 of the fans wearing Habs sweaters + own goal with 0 condolences from team mates who could have stopped the puck + fans chanting the other goaltender's name = sad day in 'Nucks town.
**of course they did!!. they scored all 4 goals against themselves. The habs did absolutely nothing! Price didn't make 39 saves. It was the clearly the canucks who beat themselves !! were we watching the same feed or does leafs tv have there own version of the game floating around somewhere??
**This article has terrible mistakes, "Eller's tie-breaking goal was even harder to believe." No, it was his game WINNING goal that was unbelievable. "Tomas Plekanec opened the scoring on a power play 5:43 into the game, and Max Pacioretty made it 3-1 on Montreal's second power-play chance 6:46 into the third." No, it was Patches scoring in the first and Plekky in the 3rd..
**I should be happy because the D really did play tighter in the third, but that caused the 'Nucks to not get any shots on goal in the first few minutes of the third. Going into the third, Price had 31 saves, I was hoping after the third, he would be around 41+ , I just wanted him to beat Varlamov :(. Next stop, Winnipeg!
**It was a much closer game than score reveals, the Canucks actually should have been winning going into the third.I can't believe the Habs simply cannot find a good coach who can figure out their problems in their own end, they get bottled up there a lot, Several problems in their end, they NEVER cover the points, collapsing into the middle means you cover nobody, good job .../not.The D men need to constantly shovel it around the boards and their weak small forwards get pinched and the puck is kept in way too often.Part of that problem is the Habs are usually a chasing team, they don't read plays before the puck gets there, this team really needs a REAL coach because they have the talent to do much better.
**Gionta is out, we needed to juggle the lines to make them work and keep the balance. I like the two G's playing with Plekanec. While Eller certainly might be better with them, just because of the chemistry they have, there's no doubt that Plekanec is a better center, who usually plays defensively which should open up opportunities for Galchenyuk and Gallagher to play more aggressively. You could finally see more confidence in Galchenyuk. We're starting to slowly see the confidence that he had when playing with the Sting. He's starting to throw around those fast one touch passes. There was one time on the PP I believe where he send Plekanec a fast one touch pass and you could tell how surprised Plekanec was receiving it, and it was right on tape as well. I believe that Eller will be the one to help Briere start scoring, he's finding chemistry with Pacioretty, but you can see a lot of tendancies in Brieres gameplay that need to be corrected. He gives up on the play too often, he doesn't try to regain puck possession of he loses it and just ducks his head and skates away. I believe Therrien is hoping Eller's work ethic will rub off on Briere. Same goes for the Desharnais line change, just trying to spark the older guys who aren't quite there yet.
**They were the only line going for us. Last year's success was due to 3 score lines and that's what we're looking for again. I think Michele simply wants everyone else going, as they say, sometimes it takes just the first goal to get your confidence back.
**Still early and a lot can change in 2 months but I will say that VAN may have a year like MTL did in 2011-12 (to a lesser degree I'm sure) and may need to recollect during the off-season. I said earlier that if things are not working say by or after the Olympics, expect VAN to ask for players like Kesler to waive their NTC purely to pick up pick(s) and/or prospect(s). Guarantee if VAN is gets an offer for Luo, he will take it! I'm not saying I want him to go, because I don't. But if he has the chance, he will. I don't think Miller will re-sign and Lunqvist is now going to wait to see how things go in NYC and with AV.
**idk why everyone is blaming Hamhuis on that goal, garrison definitely kicked it off of the stick. but jeez, how unfortunate was that, what are the odds that the puck gets kicked with enough force to hit both luo's skates on those angles and slide past the goal line ... hockey gods were definitely on the canadians side tonight
**nope and no one is blaming the Hawks, so I'm perplexed to why you even brought it up! We already know that so why mention it. Your comment doesn't change the fact that your friend is/was being a d*ick And people claim VAN fans are i*gnorant and egotistical....you'd think by now Hawk fans would be more modest and appreciative after being an embarrassment to the city of CHI and major league sports for being ranked as the worst franchise in professional sports in 2002 (ESPN) and then winning 2 cups! I guess they aren't.
**Well, Gillis has managed to single-handedly kill the Cup window that had opened for the Nucks between 2006 and 2011 with his disastrous decisions, you sure can't blame the Hawks for that.
**"who never seemed to recover from the own goal" COME ON. what the heck. Luongo was everything but bad, he did get outduelled by Price tonight, but it was just not his game with a couple of bad deflections/bounces. The writers both want to seem like it was Luongos fault the puck ended up in the net and also like he didnt make a single save after it. Luongo was good. Price was stellar. Canucks PK (and defense to an extent) is far worse than what statistics had shown before this game. And watching them lose 4 faceoffs on one PK just makes me want to carry Malhotra on to the ice. Losing is frustrating, reading BS is twice as.
**Ever notice that whenever Luongo allows a deflection, screen or fluke goal, he basically just concedes it, almost giving up on the play entirely as if to say, "I'm not expected to stop THESE". then stays down on the ice, dejected and pouting, for what seems like an eternity? Can't he even occasionally stop a puck that he can't see or isn't expecting, or spring to his feet, or does a team have to pay more than $6.7 million a season for a tender who can occasionally stop an errant puck? If he stays standing on Gorges' goal, he stops it. If he hustles back into his net (it was rather congested behind his net at the time), the own goal doesn't happen. YES, he DOES make big saves, but they are cancelled out by his 1-2 McSofties per game.
