**Couldn't see game in real time - recorded it and watched it today. WHAT was with that penalty on Cowen that gave Oilers a full 2 minute 2 man advantage? BRUTAL!! Sens seem to get a lot of totally uncalled for penalties especially when playing western teams. Remember Phillips and the 'hand over the puck' - which obviously wasn't - a couple of years ago on the western swing?

**Ottawa is in deep trouble: although they allowed less shots, their defense still looks shaky, the breakout is weak, karlsson is definitely not 100%, Spezza is a bipolar hockey player, and the rest of the team is just inconsistent and have a penalty taking fetish. Ottawa will have a horrendous 1st half of the season (about 10th-11th with a .500 record, but they will turn it around after the olympics and just slide into 7th or 8th, where they will face Detroit and lose in 5 games.

**So they finally won their 2nd game of the year giving up 48 shots. I wonder if , even with all their 1st overall drafts, they'll become a contender before these guys are either retired or traded. So much for building through 1st rounders or 1st overalls.

**Of course the first night I decide to sit RNH in my hockey pool because I'm tired of his lack of point production and -9 rating bringing me down he goes out and scores 2 goals, gets an assist, and is a plus 3. Thanks..

**jokes aside im not maclean haha but when the oilers were on the 5 on 3 the whole crowd (including myself) were like f***these refs aha! en.tertai.ning but way too many penalties good job!

**cheap shot? since when is a hit on the boards is a cheapshot? and ottawa wouldnt be so penalized if it weren;t for the refs always favoring the other team.. starting from last year Round 2 of the playoffs we get the easiest types of penalties while the other team is doing the exact same thing as us. Same as last night, sure we got one penalty but that second 'interference' one was a joke how can the refs not spot a dive *ohwell. whenever ottawa tripped up or hooked up an edmonton player the arm went up... whenver edmonton tripped, boarded or even hooked and w/e an ottawa player the arms stayed down and play continued. hell edmonton almost scored after a few missed hooking/tripping calls(just 1 or 2). even though the powerplays were almost equal in that game the refs around the league need to stiffen up for every single team with the way they treat the senators with penalties.. *hellyeh i will get a lot of minuses but most sens fans wil agree with me

**If you'd been watching the games this season you'd realize that for whatever reason the ref's have been giving Ottawa the cold-shoulder this year. Look at the call on Conacher. That is clearly NOT a penalty. I could say the same for a good percentage of Ottawa's supposed 'penalties' this year. Now go look at all the trips/hold etc. that weren't called for whatever reason. (Even when a ref is clearly within eye-shot AND appears to be paying attention to the play.) I never really believed in the 'small market' bias up unti this year, but wow. If you don't think I'm on to something here just google attendance/market/area population stats and how they relate to PP chances and you'll all be amazed. The fix is in boys. And it's got the striped all name all over it.

**Great game by Duby but still a long way to go to fix that 4.19 GAA.... but I find it disturbing that he still has a 87.7 save percentage. Oilers giving way too many shots up.

**Your team doesn't have any, especially when the playoffs arrive. Fake injuries, rookie and young player cranium-hunters. Wallowing in the shame of falling short and never holding a Stanley cup. Having to live with the fact that when they won the Presidents trophy that they should have hugged and kissed it, because its the closest they will ever come.

**The Oilers were working 7 or 8 new players into the lineup and establishing a new system of play. As well Dubnyk was having some trouble adjusting to the new equipment changes. The Oilers will collect all that the Canucks have. Wait a minute they don't have any the team is composed of a bunch of cranium-hunters.

**Ottawa's just off to a rough start they'll straighten out they've played some tuff opponents whom they rarely beat (Leafs,Kings,Sharks,Ducks) we played pretty well today just had no finish in our game we'll straighten out we still have a tuff October to finish cause we play the Redwings,Ducks,Sharks and Blawkhawks before October is over. Its not how you start it's how you finish!! You Flames fans must be hoping that's not true but as a Sens fan I am.

**that's fair. as the flames are young and rebuilding, i don't have alot of expectations. but, compared to last year before all the injuries, the sens seemed to be alot better defensively and tending. just hasn't been the case thus far. not saying they won't even out, just surprised at the start. i just wonder if bringing in ryan at the cost of alfie and silfverberg was a good idea.

**Well, it's not like they got ryan instead of alfie. They were going to get him regardless. The difference between Ryan and Silfverberg are only 3 years of age, and Ryan is a proven scorer and producer in the game while silfverberg still needs to prove himself. So it wasn't a bad trade at all. This game in particular, I felt the Sens were just way too lazy in front of their net and in their zone, but they did dominate the majority of the game in terms of puck possession, hits, face offs, shots, and scoring chances. They just killed themselves by getting stupid penalties. The sens main problem for me is defense and penalty. It's ridiculous the amount of penalties we get and how lazy they are in their zone at critical times.

**It was odd, they sat back and played a defensive system, or tried rather which is not something you see out of the oilers. They had quite a few tip shots and attempts by hemsky that didn't quite make it. It was a good game. It had it's ups and downs for both teams. The oilers 5 on 3 was awful. That was my only complaint. Hall shouldn't be too bad. The hit was awkward, but he got out of the box and just aggravated whatever happened by the looks of it.

**Enough with the penalties Ottawa! 41 times shorthanded this season so far, versus only 27 times on the powerplay. That needs to change, if they want any chance of being a playoff team this year.

**No the longest rebuild ever is in Minnesota. Where they lost their franchise to texas, and have spent 16 years trying to win something, anything. While the stars went on to win a cup, back in minnesota they have yet to win a conference, presidents or cup. Sad stuff really. Heck even the panthers have a conference banner.

**yes they do. Anyone who dosen't think that the Oilers managment tanked the team into all those picks simply dosen't know hockey. Read some OilersUK posts for an idea about how clueless.

**Hey OTOIL, what I dont get is if you obviously hate the Oilers so much, why come on to these posts (especially after they win) just to bash them? Like it is pretty pathetic really. Dont you have a life? There are a lot of things I dislike in life, but I dont go on web-pages dedicated to those things just to bash them.Do you have shyte job? A minger wife? A tiny manhood? If you hate the Oilers so much, maybe just forget about them and move on??

**I like Dubnyk, and am glad he's bouncing back. As for yak, he's now threatening to back to Russia, so I'd like him traded, yes. Don't matter what it's for. I'm just getting the sense he's going to walk .

**He never said that. He said that he was shocked to hear the rumours, and thought maybe his dad went behind his back on it, but apparently no, his dad would "never do that". His agent also said that there is not even a thought about leaving. Although apparently his parents weren't very happy, which I guess is understandable, hockey parents and all. i don't think Yak wants to leave. Heck, most Oilers fans don't want him to leave. We all want to continue to chant Yak city ahaha

**I agree. I feel that yes, he was doing poorly early on. But he has shown to be a quite capable goalie, over the last couple of years. I think tonight showed that he has potential, and that he is here to stay.

**Hmmm... Looks like Yak and RNH did some good things. Maybe Eakins should focus on defensive structuring and let the kids play. Dubnyk did a great job and will need to play like this more often for the oil to keep winning. Great job today though.

**i was at the game and i couldnt believe it. The oilers got boo'd for a full two minutes (or whenver they touched the puck) during the powerplay and it literally got the crowd back in it then we scored a while after

**Any game the Sens lose is a good game for me. Good going Oilers. Here's hoping you beat the Habs too.

**Good game Ottawa, very entertaining. Too bad Hall got injured, get well soon

**It was an awkward hit. All it warranted was maybe a little retaliation, which he got. Otherwise the guys fine.
