**Wow we so much better off for relieving our once great coach Lindy Ruff ... now doing a much better job for the Dallas Stars.. sad move win less Buffalo! Well at least we know where the real failure fails!
**It's kinda lame how the scoring summary doesn't link the players names anymore. I always liked to check full stats after every game.
**Let's recap. The Sabres trade away Pommer who is almost apoint per game player. Then in the offseason they buy out Nathan Gerbe's contract. Pommer scores the game winner and Gerbe has 3 goals and 5 pts not to mention the heart of a lion. Then the Sabres keep Stafford and Leino, both of which couldn't put the puck in an empty net from the top of the crease.
**Beamer, we got rid of Gerbe because we need to be "the toughest team in the league to play against". (Snickers in background) Need room for Scott on the roster. Classic Darcy
**We have been stuck in mediocrity for years and a rebuild is needed. As much as I like Pommer and hate Stafford and Leino, the 2 of them are un tradable cause no team wants them and combined wouldn't have yielded the return Jason brought us. Gerbe on the other hand, I agree was a stupid move
**yes but that team was Minnesota prior to them discussing Pommer. There was no way they could have afford both. We would have gotten no where with a 3rd round pick.
**I agree with the Pominville thing, but Gerbe is just off to a hot start. He had 29 goals his entire career here, keeping Leino and Stafford is also puzzling, but Gerbe, Im not that upset about. If he has 70 points at years end maybe I change my tune. Zack Kassian led the Canucks in goals last year to start out the season, and was on the 4th line by game 10 and finished there.
**Whats up with Pominville's hair? His NHL pick has him basically long on 1 side, thinning in the middle and basically nothing on the other side. Is he trying to beat Gezlaf at excuse not to shave his head? lol My hairs getting bad as well, so I know it stinks but seriously buzz it down guys lol. Sabers really need a win. This season has been brutal for certain teams as some of us cant pull off a win.
**Nice going whoever wrote this article. NBCSN kept saying last night that the Sabres have not had a lead all season, but that is not correct. They lead 1-0 and 2-1 against TB before losing in overtime. Author of this article must have been watching the game and repeated this falsehood.
**The Wild have had issues with Toronto in the past. Might be safe to ride a different goalie tonight, but I'm not saying it can't be done. It'll be interesting with the way the team has been playing.
**To those saying it was a boring game, I can't help but disagree. My guess is that thought spurs from a relatively low scoring game. However the WIld were putting on a clinic for most of the game on great puck movement, winning board battles, and getting the Sabres to make mistakes. Brodin, Suter, and Spurgeon were more than solid the entire game. There were also some pretty glaring rookie mistakes, mainly guys passing when they should have taken the shot, but overall was great to watch. Its nice to see the Wild really shaping into a solid team. Now if we could just do something about that one guy with the stringy curly hair...
**2 quick things I can't get out of my head after this game. One, we BETTER win the lottery, because this is going to be one hell of a brutal season for Buffalo. And two, I thought Jonas Brodin was a good up and coming defenseman, but from what I saw yesterday I couldn't be more wrong. He's way better than that, he's an absolute stud. He's playing like a savy 7 year stud veteran on the blueline and he's 20. Why cant Myers do this??
**it's just amazing that other than Mason, who is a goalie so I guess it's a slightly different situation, every other skater to win the Calder since '05 is an All-star or Superstar, and then there's Myers. Ugh
**Yeah Brodin is insane. Just like Keith Jones was saying last night, Brodin should have won Calder. He was a beast of a D man last year, and while his numbers were not the highest, he was still playing at an extremely high level. You just do not see D men playing like he was playing in his rookie year.
**It is sad that the writers get to decide who wins the trophies. I think the coaches/GM's should decide and are unable to vote for their own team. Suter might have won Norris, and Brodin might have won Calder. Most people in MN thought they were both a lock for their respective trophies.
**While I don't blame Ron Rolston for what's happening with the Sabres; there is zero that a coach can do about lack of goal scoring. He can only play the people the GM provides. The GM I do blame. He should go, and - to be fair to his replacement - his coach should go with him. The owner insists that he is prepared to pay the price for success. Here's his chance to prove it. Pay Pat Quinn whatever it would cost to convince him to be GM and coach, as he was in Toronto.
**It's not just the lack of scoring, it's the lack of effort. These guys look AWFUL. I blame Darcy, mostly, but I blame Rolston. Darcy came out at the beginning of the season and said something like "we are going to be suffering this season", which means 1 - you don't believe in your team - the team YOU created, and 2 - you've given everyone involved with this team a cop out. Oh, it's rebuilding, we don't have to play. Darcy NEEDS to go - he should have been gone with Lindy - and the new GM, whoever he is needs to bring in his own coach. Rolston is not ready for prime time, and Darcy, well, he just stinks
**I think the effort is there, just not the talent. The Sabres pass like a Midget team. No crisp accurate passes but in the skates or the passes are to the off hand. It's brutal. How do you get any flow if you can't pass the puck. That onus lies on the coach. But Darcy still needs to go.
**Yakupov led the OILERS with 17 goals during last short season. That is 30 goals for 84 games re-calculation. Not bad for a rookie. The guy has potential of Pavel Bure. But he is blacklisted by a new OILERS coach, so, might be available. Trade MILLER for him. Not much loss for SABRES, he is UFA at the end of the season, unlikely will stay with a losing Team. But MILLER can make OILERS winners, so both teams will see improvements.
**You never know. Edmonton has a young exciting team with plenty of offense which would take some pressure off his shoulders. He wouldn't have to keep teams to 2 goals against every game to get a win! However, the defense will make his job harder as well so I would agree I wouldn't want to go there if I was Miller.
**People are saying this was a boring game, it had no offense and NBCSports should be regretting picking this game... First off, it was Pominville's return to Buffalo and he scored the GWG. And yes, teams have tough offensive games, but good teams know how to win those games and the Wild pulled it off. If you wanna see offense from the Wild look at their first 5 games. They could easily be undefeated right now. But every team has tough games. The Wild are fine.
**Rebuild? What are you talking about? The rooster haven't changed a lot since the last season. They even lost one thing thatt held them up and showed some reasonable playing in the offensive zone - Vanek. Vanek doesn't show any solid move like he did last year. They even lost what they had last year. It's not a rebuild. It's a serious troubles in the team. And a rebuild is not an excuse for 7 goals in 7 games. This guys has to be proffesionlas and they are to show some level all the time. It's not a street punks. So my question is reasonable. You can deceive yourself as much as necessary but sabers now aren't capable to compete with nither of the teams and it's not about the rebuild.
**What about the pens and all their troubles? Sure, they are insane during the regular season and are expected to continue that trend, but ever since their current core won a cup, the hunger has disappeared. Every postseason since then has been nothing but laughable for the pens.
**"Rebuild? What are you talking about? The rooster haven't changed a lot since the last season." Your grammar is awful and just because our roster isn't much different doesn't mean we don't have players in the minors that will be coming up soon. Not to mention Vanek and Miller are for sure leaving by the end of the year and lets not forget Girgensons, Grigorenko, Pysyk, Larsson, Flynn, Foligno, Hodgson, Armia, Zadorov, Ristolainen... Is this not a solid group of young talent waiting to be developed? I mean in 3-5 years these guys will be a strong core for this team
**Yes. Especially with how inspirational he has been with the condition he has. It's only a matter of time before his body starts breaking down but he's fighting it with everything he's got and still playing hockey at a high level. It really puts life's problems in perspective.
**Most deffenetly a fan favorite. Personally I woln´t ming to go back to the days og Fernandez-Rolston matching. A W i the stats and you play next game, Would love to see that race between Bäckström and Harding.
