**the Leafs might be 6-1-0 but their defense HAS to improve. Can't keep relying on the goalie to bail us out, because one of these days it might not happen. I'm not a huge fan of Phaneuf and yes this was one of his "off" games, but I feel he doesn't get enough credit from leafs nation. A d-man who eats up a good 25 mins of ice time and tries his hardest to do the best for the team. If it wasn't for Dion, who'd eat up all that ice time? Rielly was pretty stellar tonight. Showed some good offensive upside to his game. Starting to believe he'll be staying with the buds this season instead of going back down to Moose Jaw. McClement deserves more credit than he should. Kills off penalties like it's nothing! So underrated! And Reimer... well it's pretty self-explanatory. He kept us in this game and carried us this entire game. He made sure we came out of this game with the W, and he did just that. I just hope they can play better vs Carolina! GLG!
**Wilds are really good. The Leafs were lucky and name of the luck was James Riemer. Seriously, the guys should step up, can't play like this anymore.
**If you don't get the possession, you don't get the shots, you won't get the goals. The Leafs will unlikely to be able to continue winning games with as low as 14 shots. This is only the second time Minnesota has lost when out shooting an opposing team like this.
**No, as the Wild announcer has stated this is only the second time in team history when they've out-shot an opponent by 24 or more shots and lost. I did say like this. I didn't mean just out shooting, I meant drastically getting out-shot as was this game.
**last year we beat boston with three shots. if its so rare then why have the leafs been winning like this since carlyle took over
**That's why you need your GM to fix that situation. Don't blame the lack of depth -- it's a team sport, which means (among other things) that you need to have a good team, deep at all positions.
**Ever heard of having more than one player for each position? That's what "depth" means. It's very unfortunate news, but a GM has to be prepared for the worst. Players get cancer, injuries, illnesses all the time, some come back, some don't, and we all wish them well, but we don't pin the losses on them while they are away. That's just pathetic. If a GM can't find a placeholder or replacement for an injured or ill player, that's a failure to the team.
**Good game by both sides. Very impressed with Minnesota's passing, puck possession, and the way they all hustle back. Tons of skill. They look to be missing a big body to plant in front of the net. I think the leafs played well and deserve a win despite being badly outshot and those 2 bad breakaways.
**What team are you a fan of, exactly? The Leafs played excellent on special teams all night, the goaltending was top-notch, and the forward lines were all generating chances, even if they weren't all shots on goal. Quit obsessing over one mostly meaningless statistic.
**So where are the wild fans who are still spouting off about corsi stats and all that garbage... One team did what it takes to win. Which just in case you still aren't getting it... They scored more goals than the opposing team. They didn't give a flying f about how many shots or faceoffs they won they went out and scored more goals and let less in. The wild need to find that knack to win and finish or it is going to be a long season of 'but we have corsi stats and faceoffs man'...
**If the Wild were up 4-3 in the second and Kuemper had only faced 7 shots I guarantee none you would be complaining. Don't blame him for the offense failing to produce.
**Yes Lundquist has had more than one bad game this season. He is a good young goalie. Its tough playing as a young NHL goalie because if you have a bad game everyone notices it. I am a leafs fan but I hope Kuemper plays a great game next time he plays.
**Nonis is right ... Kessel is a GREAT teammate when he signed Kessel to a big contract ... That was unselfish and left Raymond get the goal !!!
**That is classy. I don't expect anything less than hate from MTL fans and TML fans toward MTL fans. THATS HOW IT SHOULD BE! Leaf fans and Habs fans talking cleanly and positively about eachothers team is the kind of stuff that makes me want to start WW3.
**He's getting old. Minnesota will have to start looking for a goalie soon. Since Im a Leaf fan id love to trade them Reimer+ for Brodin. You guys have Suter as your #1 and Dumba in the system so Brodin is a bit expendable. I'd give Reimer, Gardiner (i think MIN is his home state), a prospect (like Biggs), and a 1st.
**hail to the no mapleleafer, Brodin isnt going anywhere. You can take heater off our hands.
