**I have to agree with people who are up-in-arms about Subban winning the Norris based on pts alone. If you think about it there's a lot of solid blue-liners that aren't getting the recognition they deserve because you've got guys like Subban, Letang, and Karlsson who put up huge numbers. Perhaps there should be a trophy for most pts. by a d-man and another trophy that could give recognition to, say, d-man with highest +/- and shots blocked. A team should not be based on its parts on paper. A team should be based on their performance. Of course I'm referring to the Flames on this one, who've proven to everyone who thought that they'd be nothing without Iggy and Kipper that, so far, they're wrong. And for the sake of Canadian hockey I hope they keep it up.

**I'm impressed with Calgary this season, Since the loss of Iginla and Kiprusoff, I had no clue what would happen. Impressive, impressive. But i'm still pulling for the Habs and Jackets.

**love the Habs and will keep cheering for them, but they should dump Gionta , Briere and Plekanec , ; first two are both finished , and Plek very overrated .Rene Bourque never a threat , Montreal has not got the horses up front at all .

**Despite the slight discrepancy at the defensive level; the Flames had the propensity to stay upbeat. Congratulations to Joey MacDonald and Sean Monahan for being awarded recognition.

**Victory is sweet. Even sweeter against the Habs.I know there are a lot of Subban haters, but that guy is a beast! His hot head got him in penalty trouble, but when he's skating and playing physical, man there is no one better in the league on the blueline.Happy to have him on Team Canada! Go Flames Go!!!!!!!!!!!

**I think the Flames have surprised many; and their performance is consequential to the way the players self-concept (feel about themselves), the team environment and the optimism in the Flames organization. Its amazing to see the difference in this rejuvenated team.

**So true. It has always been my biggest pet peeve with Therrien. Desharnais and Briere have done absolutely nothing so far, Gionta and Plekanec show up occassionaly, and Eller's line has proved itself, not only this year, but last year as well, and Therrien decides to play them in the last 5 minutes of the game, to actually give the team a chance to tie it up. It's almost like he's aware that it's his best line, but doesn't bother playing them because he expects his "top 2" lines to perform. Reward Eller's hardwork, and throw your underperformers on the third line, not the other way around.

**thats just one exemple of Therrien bad coaching. Then in press conference he blame Subban, wich was probably our best player on ice for second and third period yesterday. He also said the canadiens did well one first period because we outshooted them by like 10 shoots on goalie, wich is ridiculous imo, SoG means nothing if their are not real chances. And did you heard Subban comments about the pratice been lacking energy, wich transposed directly in the first period where they were not ready, and truly isaw that, habs were loosing every battle it was pathetic. Therrien simply never adress the right problems, why not talk of those 1st and 3rd line who have been invisible for the first 3 games? No, its easyer bashing on your best player wich want to do a bit too much for waking up the team, and transforming the reality of a bad first period saying we had more SoG.

**what a joke give to the guy with the huge powerplay points. Watched the first goal, he went for the highlite hit again then didnt get back hard, skidded in as the flames scored a 2 on 1

**Nothing with Subban going for the hit. It was first a turnover from Travis Moen in the neutral zone. Nothing wrong there from Subban. And then, Ryan White couldn't backcheck fast enough to cover Monahan, who had all year to tip the puck in the net. Subban's decision was fine, It's not his fault if he is playing with a bad player.

**If you assumed victory before the game was even played then maybe you're the joke, man. Habs haven't won in Calgary since 2002 or something, and the 2013 Flames are better than you think.

**Subban is a hell of an energetic player, but being a hot head and taking stupid penalties isn't going to take you anywhere. I've been saying this for a while, he really needs to work on his defensive game to go with his offensive one. As for the Flames, I did not expect this outcome in the slightest lol. You guys have an unreal team, and this is gonna be one hell of a "rebuilding year". Go habs and Go Flames !

**Subban defensive game is sooooooo overrated. I'd rather have him on the ice for 28 minutes than any other D-men in the team. Michel Therrien should stop benching him after he make a lil mistake. Put him there 28min every night and he will make up for his mistakes every night.

**have to say I didn't count on the flames being fired this fired up to start the season but man I was wrong so far! whatever it is, new culture/ new attitude really is working. hopefully it keeps up!! im glad not both of the alberta teams are near the bottom ... that being said im very into the rivalry and strongly dislike you guys concerning hockey, in a friendly sort of way lol ... good luck with the rest of the season calgary

**Think of how motivated you'd be if you spent the entire summer listening to everyone tell you how bad you s*ck and how terrible your team will be. There are a lot of underrated and proud veterans on this team and lots of underrated talented kids (many of whom are from the Calgary area) who want to make a name for themselves. I said all offseason that it was foolish to assume the Flames would just crawl into their shell and "tank" for 5 years like everyone was saying. We're not Cup contenders right now by any means, but we're also not the "roll over and die" worst team in the league like people thought. Not by a long shot. If this team can play like this, if our kids can be this productive and poised, with guys like Poirier, Klimchuk, Jankowski, Sieloff, Wotherspoon, Gillies, Gaudreau, etc still coming up through the system, then i could care less about #1 overall picks. People think getting #1 overall is the only way to rebuild, the only way to build a winning team and draft difference makers. It's a joke. I want the kids we have to win and be successful and gain confidence, i could care less about Reinhart or Ekblad right now. Anyone who cheers for their team to lose in October, especially when they have 6 out of a possible 8 points, is a joke of a fan if you ask me. Rant over Good luck to the Oilers as well, the Battle of Alberta will only get better and better over years to come

**Yeah can't help but think that with Kipper we would easily be 4-0 right now. Mac has made some great saves but also made some mistakes that led to scoring chances and goals against, and Ramo didn't play badly but also didn't play great (yet, i think he will with some more time to adjust and gain experience), but if we can solidify the PK, get a little bit more on the same page with the defensive system, and keep this kind of aggression and group effort going consistently, then who knows what these guys can do. They're fun to watch

**When they interviewed him during the intermission he kinda threw his team under the bus, saying they practiced poorly and carried it over into the game. Even if it were true you don't call the rest of your team out on national television and then take 2 bad penalties in the third, crushing any chance of a comeback. He's got tons of talent but his attitude needs improvement. If I were in Therrien's shoes I'd have a lot to say to him.

**I'd rather have Subban extra energy that gave us a chance to win by itself, wit hthe bad side of getting 2 penalty, than having like 6-7 players been invisible on the ice. Easy criticism here. Look his first penalty, he wasn't a bad one at all, he did a very nice play carrying the puck to the other team zone and got punished because he wanted to do too much to Wake his team up.

**To everyone laughing at the habs because they lost, grow up. It's one game. Everyone loses a game now and then. Even the best teams lose games. Pretty sure Chicago didn't go undefeated last year. I'm not saying montreal is the best team, because they still have a lot of work to do, but that's what a rebuild is. Calgary is off to a good season, and they outplayed montreal. But it's 3 games into the season, and every team still has time to address their problems and fix them. So relax. Good game calgary

**I think the Flames did outplay the Habs. Shots only tell a small part of the story. The Flames chances were better, and MacDonald played a better game. Fast breakout, good cycling, nifty plays. These are all things Calgarian's can't usually say about the Flames. However, The Habs looked more poised. The Flames are no good with a lead, as our OT column shows. PK looked great. Wish he was in Calgary.

**Thats what i fond too. Shots on goal mean almost nothing sometime. you can do 20 poor shoots on goalie and none will enter, then other team have one great play and get a real chance to score. Therrien always use shoots on goal as an excuse for his lost, but its not about that. REmember last series against Sens, was the same story, we would outshoot sens by a fair margin, but they would score in 2 or 3 chances. Then Therrien saying we had badluck or were not opportunist. Yeah right.
