**The Sharks had a lot of jump in this game. Almost carried the momentum throughout the contest. San Jose just loves playing at home. 50 shots is an absolute bombardment! Hopefully they can have more success on the road this year, though.
Phoenix just had one of those games. Not a terrible game, but close. They are a much better team than that, and should rebound for sure. Obviously they were missing some key players too. Smith looked awesome, as usual. This season is starting off nicely!
**Smith put on a clinic last night. I really am impressed by Hertl too, I didn't expect him to fill a top 6 spot right off the bat, but with all the injuries he has really stepped up.
**This kid is a special player. He brings so much energy and skill to the team. Also love how he always smiles about everything.
**I honestly prefer the black. However, if you want the schedule for when they'll wear black, it's every Thursday/Sunday home game except opening night which already happened (11 out of 41 home games, not counting preseason).
**First off hats off to the sharks for coming out and just smothering our team and playing and showing up. As a coyote fan the sharks and yotes are always fun to watch. Sharks play hard, tough, and clean. My team didn't even show up, and after the first 3 goals i turned it off and was pretty disappointed.this is exactly one of the main reasons we didnt make the playoffs last year we played horrible on the road. Smith is the only player who kept things so we didn't have to leave with bags over are head. I just paid a lot for tickets to watch them on this road trip and my goodness, i hope my team shows up and plays a good game. These are the points and games/ shootouts that will bury us and not get us in the playoffs. New era new owner, yes its just one game but maybe I've come to expect the coyotes to win all the time. Maybe that beating was what we needed early to get this team up to par. Good game san jose but its embarrising to comment on the team i wasn't expecting to win. Lets get it together boys and play our game, its way early but lets come back home with points not make excuses why we didn't do this or that, come on boys can't sit back this year and watch. Playoff teams attack and find ways to win, we didn't look hungrier than ever we looked lazier than ever come on yotes, no excuses we need to win.
**My condolences also go out to mike smith and his family, didnt know what happend until today. My sincere apologies to him and his family again. Shows what kind of teamate and person he is to even play last night. Just for the record i love my team, and think the team will rally behind smith and play better on this road trip. Ive watched this team thru all the ups and downs for 16 Years. I know the coyotes can play better and will but again my heart goes out to smitty and his family, COYOTE for life.
**Very true. However, there were stretches where Phoenix carried the play. Just couldn't sustain much pressure. Smith played great though.
**Well, if the Shark fans were worried with Power Plays 0/8 against the Canucks, they can take a breath a little bit after watch this game. Always nice battles against the Yotes. GG 4/5
**Well although he's an NHL rookie, he lead his team in scoring last year playing with adults. I'm hoping for about 50-60 points out of Hertl this season if he's going to be playing on a line with Jumbo and Burnsie. Thornton is in a contract year this year, so he'll be working harder than ever to put up big numbers, and with him that means lots of assists. Tomáš could definitely be the beneficiary of that drive.
**Hertl probably has one of the best places in NHL to learn from veterans. He certainly takes the ice like he's been here for some time. How many goals do you think he'll get Shark fans? 30+ imo! Exciting talent!
**Coyotes left Smith out to dry. It's incredible that the game didn't blow up any further than it did. I can tell other Sharks fans are really liking Hertl already. Every time he stepped on the ice people in the last few minutes people were cheering for him to get the hat trick and they cheered so loud when they said his first hockey goal. He keeps this up, he may just end up being a bit of a steal from the 2011 first round class.
**2012* But yes, I definitely agree. Love watching him play, love the massive smile that always seems to be on his face, and love seeing the sharks get the 2 points in regulation. Can't believe that with 3 goals allowed Smith still wound up with a .940 save % though, that was a really impressive performance.
**There was some great sportsmanship shoed in this game. When Couture was tripped and ran into mike smith he was mic'd up and said sorry to smith, also martin hanzal laid a big hit on hertl in the 3rd period and asked him if he was ok afterwards and hertl let him know that he was ok
