Thomas, Panthers beat Luongo, Canucks in shootout
**Love to see Timmy playing with his smile. Cat's lucky to have him. Although, Cat's should clear their and be more responsible in their own zone. This second goal was awful miscommunication from Fleshman side giving Hansen on the stick. Anyway, glad to see they win. it is great sign!!!**Since SOME lines can't produce, I've recreated the lines temporarily, in what I've seen this season. Higgins-H. Sedin-Hansen D. Sedin-Kesler-Booth (Give Booth a chance, like the Oilers did Yakupov) Richardson-Santorelli-Burrows Kassian-Dalpe-Weise Hamhuis-Garrison Edler-Tanev Stanton-Bieksa
**I also always get a kick out of fans who worry about their team's slump. Just remember how many we've lost in a row and how many times we've been the playoffs. There's still plenty of season left, jeesh.
**yeah buts thats the eastern conference. The Western conference is much more polarized. The top 8 teams for them would be much harder to catch up to than the the eastern top eight.
**toughest conference? More games going to overtime here in the west than the east resulting in more points for the top teams.... Does it mean they are better cause they lose in overtime more?
**Absolutely loving how we're playing right now. Don't know where it'll take us but if we keep playing like this, we will be a thorn in anyone's side. Let's keep em coming!
**some of you here need a little history lesson -in the last few years, the Vancouver Canuck Hockey Club attained its greatest period of sustained excellency in team history, winning the President's Trophy twice, the Art Ross trophy twice, a Jennings and a Selke.in addtion, the club has won its division a dozen times, the last five in a row ....
**It appears the Canucks areright back to where they were last season...not Torts fault, in fact he's done well to bring out the best sort of speak in a timely manner...let's see how management responds, if they can.
**The flames have scored one more goal then us, and have 2 games less played. None of these players have the skills to make any plays that give us a real good scoring chance, its always shots from outside easily saved and seen by the goalie.
**Gillis had more then enough time to switch up the 2nd and 3rd line and what does he do he keeps Burrows Higgins Hansen Booth Kassian and gets rid of Raymond who has more goals then any of the Canucks players. SAd so very sad.
**None? I wouldn't go that far.. We all know who can produce, its a matter of finding the right guys to support. Gillis just needs to finish the job. And I agree Raymond should hav stayed
**Same old same old. Canucks are not looking good for post season. They need someone other than the Sedin's who can score consustently otherwise it is too easy: bottle up the Sedin's and the Cancuks scoring stops. The Sedin's have been bottled up and the Canucks aint scoring....
**lets look ahead a bit ... CBJ should be the warmup for the Sat night biggie vs CHI .... then a medium hard game vs LAK and then OTT and NYR .... all of these games are winnable, if they show up to play 60 solid minutes of good hockey every night .
**well its official .. the hockey gods do not love vancouver .... at all ... how else do you explain yet another wasted OT with yet another weak call on the home team ??? .... Torts is finding out that its really true - the NHL has it in for this hockey club.
**Not laziness, no chemistry, no bottom 6 scoring touch. Support is something we clearly lack. And when the Sedins have a million shots and zero goals it shows how the rest of the team is playing
**we'd have to go roughly 40-20 at this point to make the playoffs. who here thinks its possible? i would be amazed and love to see that but just going by panthers history i say we play decent the rest of the year and go 34-26 and finish 9th so that we get heartbroken yet again and a bad draft pick to boot. RAAAIIIIIINNNNN down the thumbs on me panthers faithful. they are my energy source :)
**Because it was in Vancouver. You must be new to hockey because thats the way its been forever, in every arena. Home crowd or media picks the stars. I agree with you though, doesn't make sense to have 2/3 stars when we lost.
**Luongo stopped a lot of shots, granted, but he looked as slow and awkward as a turtle on the Panthers' first goal, a play which Luongo completely gave up on rather than scrambling to get his body positioning back. It's his uneven play and inconsistent compete level within a game that has forever been his Achilles heel. And, to add insult to injury, what Luongo thought was a clever tweet ended up backfiring on him, AGAIN being bested by Thomas. Calling all Twitter Twits: Don't let opponents know that hey are on the top of your mind. Its an open admission of weakness. Some people just never learn.
**"long time since they where a winning team." yeah, right. I guess winning the southeastern conference and taking the eventually eastern conference champion to 7 games in 2011-12 doesn't count. How quickly people can forget.
**Actually Bruins fans tend to comment without even watching the Canucks. In this case his leg was tied up in upshalls skates, which were located one on each side of his leg. Luongo played great and the rest of the team did not. Thomas was not a star because of all the Canucks scoring chances......4 were stopped by Timmee and 7 were stopped by the posts. Nobody cares about the stars though, the 2 points are what matter.
**Exactly my point - whenever Luongo is the slightest bit impeded by contact, he gives up, concedes the goal and pouts, rather than standing his ground and fighting for position, like winners do. He's that easy to get to. That's why they will eventually erect a statue of Luongo staring skyward, sadly, remorsefully, longingly, at the jumbotron.
**Nice effort by the Panthers. They deserve it. They worked hard in the early part of the season but the puck bounced the wrong way. Now even when the refs blow early whistles they come back and score again. That is effort, not letting the refs or the bounces matter just keep working and skating.
**We're 11-0-1 this season when scoring 3 GOALS OR MORE and like 0-8-1 this season when scoring 2 GOALS OR LESS Secondary scoring is the obvious issue with this team. Though last night it was a different story. I watched the game and thought the Sedin's had some chances but just couldn't get it done. REALLY liked Matthias in that game last night. Maybe we could swing a deal to get rid of some cap to acquire Matthias and Kopecky, throw in Jensen or Schroeder. We must improve that bottom 6.
