Red Wings hold off Canucks to end four-game slide

Alrightyy we need nyquist up here. Team is averaging two goals a game. Didn't want to admit or think it**

**Fedorov91Datsyuk13; I don't know. Is he Russian? Perhaps the Russians have had enough of the Swedes and wanna retake Hockeytown?

**cody69; Detroit was obviously the hungrier team. So is Tanev a secret Detroit double agent? That was the absolute perfect screen.

**sharma92; I think canucks pp would be better with edler on first unit instead of garrison cuz he has a good shot but he passes as well, instead of garrisons shoot first technique is making the pp predictable.

**Synyster-Gates: he can only go back down if he goes through waivers, and he has already said hes is not playing in the ahl anymore, even if he does pass through waivers and sent down to gr he wont go, he will go play in europe

**YzermanIsTheBoss1: I am proud of my Wings. That kind of play reminded me of a decent night from 4-5 years ago. Holding the opposite team in their own blue zone the majority of the game, puck possession galore, and loads of scoring chances. Great game, Canucks. Always love playing you guys, and thats not just because we're 4-0-2 over the last six, but because the Sedin twins and LUUUUUUU are always entertaining to watch.

**ugslick: Smith was really solid tonight. He has skill, I like his skating, his decision making needs to get better, but it will with experience. He had a few bad plays, a couple times turned it over under pressure, a weird penalty (the one on Sedin should have been embellishment LOL) though he shouldn't have pushed him back.. OVerall the Wings were pushing the puck up fast and had good support. The coverage mistakes werent too abundant (though the one they scored on was pretty bad.)

**ugslick; Yeah, the thing is he has all the skill and smarts in the world. I don't know why everyone suddenly was ready to ship him out. He's going to be using his offensive instinct very well over his career on the Red Wings blue line. He just needs to gain experience, be an everydayer (as Babcock says) and pick up the hardworking attitude from Z and Datsyuk. The kid will be good for us, and he'll get better and better as he matures.

**YzermanIsTheBoss1: Not only that, Samuelsson was scratched, Tatar was in with youngsters and DeKeyser was playing top minutes. The only downside to last night besides Bertuzzi not scoring on the goalie he was traded away for by the Canucks, is that Brendan Smith played better.. which is still horrible. This guy has two penalties that were not needed. I despise him.

**wings_13: Well as long as he created those scoring chances I don't mind our pk is great this year. Now the team will feel so much better for the next couple of games so pumped to see helm soon! And I hope Tatar stays on that line they were really good.

**As a Blackhawks fan who despises Vancouver and the game the USED to play (diving, whining, hair pulling, cheap-shotting, biting ,etc.), it is good to see John Tortorella whipping that bunch into the 'no-bull' team they are now. All those antics are gone from this year's Canucks squad. Good for Vancouver and good for Tortorella. Too bad Luongo let in another softie from Tatar and it ended up being the game winner.

**Tortorella will bring the Canucks much farther than Vigneault ever could. Torts is a much better coach, Alain took a strong Canucks team, but couldn't bring any consistency, attention to detail or mental resiliency to their game. That's why they always ended up losing, despite having very strong teams in the past few years. Torts will shape them up into a strong team. The same can't be said of the Rangers though... with Vigneault.

**Anonymous: That 3 Stars thing has always been a bunch of whooey anyway. The Hawks won Game 6 to win the Cup, and did it in dramcatic fashion. Yet two of the game's 3 Stars were Boston Bruins, and the lone Hawk star was not the Cup winning scorer. It's all whooey that no one really cares about. Just gives writers something to do at the end of the game.

**NucklHead: Canucks looked horrible most of that game. 12 to 3 in giveaways? Not gonna win a lot of games playing like that. Props to Lu for giving us a chance. PP has to step it up or else we're not going anywhere this year

**Marc Rivera: After a bunch of BS, i was finally getting the game. Red Wings played much better than they had been. 4-0 or 3-1 Road Trip is my opinion. This game was for Bragging Right's between Swede's for both Team's is something Z, KWall, Alfredson, etc. and 4 the ginger twins. In Sochi, they will put all that a side and play for Sweden. I'm glad we're finally get a 4sure game against Russia. They should show more than US Games. There are Gr8 Team's playing. Time to show more Hockey! Go Red Wings!!

**Jackson_KSA: This game is 90% mental and the other half is physical (Yogi Berra). Canucks got beat both mentally and physically tonight. The only good news was the play of LU who kept it from a total embarrassment. I do think when your guys are getting pushed around, Sestito should get more ice time. Bert was being himself and Canucks couldn’t handle it.

**Jackson_KSA: All professional sports have a lot of mental component in them. The players are physically good or they wouldn't be there. When D men fail to make simple blocks which they normally do all the time and forwards keep hitting the other team with errant passes that is a mental let down. - and you're wrong about the quote.

**biig: Worst game of the season for the canucks. Not at all in my opinion that good of a game from the Wings either but obviously better than the canucks, the detroit first line schooled ours in possession times and takeaways. I would've imagined a better game, but after watching the BOS-PIT game i might've expected too much already. Congrats on the win wings.
