Maple Leafs keep rolling, beat Flames

**as a Leafs fan born and raised in Toronto, glove tap to everyone who was able to get the Saddledome back to normal after the floods. i've only been to Calgary briefly, but my thoughts are still with those affected. we have a great country and great people. can't wait to come together again and paint the country red and white in February. :)

**Meowmixx: 43-21 in shots, but... most of those 43 were mediocre. And Bernier kinda scooped up what was left, bar two. I'm not sure what the deal is with our GAA, apart from our captain missing and having to play Butler on the 1st/2nd pairing. Russell has been -really- good so far, though. Kinda worried about how Colborne and Monahan will go from here, hope they don't get frustrated on low point-per-minute scores. Was a good game, Leafs - if you can manage to control the puck more % of the game, you can outplay everyone.

**Anonymous: Flames dominated top to bottom outside of goaltending and had plenty of quality chances. Don't give the leafs more credit than they should be given here.

**Flamesfanatic13: you ever notice how all the "EASTERN CREEPS AND BUMS" cheer for a team that , like the Canucks and Sharks will have awesome regular season but will NEVER win the cup

**MacwasinMoscow: This is a direct quote from TSN re: the Varlamov situation; "I'm confident of Semyon's innocence," Russian parliamentarian Igor Ananskikh told a Russian news agency R-Sport. "I think it is a sports and political move, as Varlamov is a candidate for the Russian national team. The main goal is to suspend him from training and games so that he loses practice and misses the Olympics." I guess then we can expect Ovechkin soon to be implicated in the Aaron Hernandez case and Datsuk charged with espionage. Man, I love Russia!

**tommyKO: they're pretty screwed up over there with their innocence or guilty theories - basically they can lock you not having any evidence but in order for them to cut you loose you have to prove you didn't do anything lol

**tommyKO; anyways it's going to be interesting how Giguere does for the AVS, he's been pretty good so far, 3 games played, wasn't consistent for the Leafs..

**HockeyPlayer9: I have two friends who live in Canada. both are Leaf fans. Nice guys. We talk hockey sometimes. They never talk like peee nises. It's interesting how so many Leaf fans on this site do.

**TDouce7: ugggh.. another leafs win... having parents who grew up in montreal and growing up in ottawa myself I have been hardwired to hate the leafs. That being said, I know when to give credit when credit is due... watching the leafs games and looking at there roster I have to admit this is a real good team and im impressed with what theyve put together. Good luck guys (with a sour taste in my mouth)

**Anar_Sajoo: The initial offensive attack (to encompass the intended game plan) had been encouraging and so were the shots on goal in favor of the Flames. The home team's determination to (almost) come within one was noteworthy save for the last minute shorthanded marker by the opponents. In closing, the 2-0 deficit early in the play had been costly. Good try guys...

**Phlyonthewall: We'll take the two points, but we would rather not take them from a team no-one hates, who can relate to and is going through hard times that the Maple Leafs know only too well. I want 7 Canadian teams in the finals , I think all Canadians want Stanley to come home. Its an Olympic year and a gold medal in Sochi wont even compare to Canada reclaiming the real prize, NO ,,, the only prize in hockey.

**Phlyonthewall: I don't see many hockey fans arguing that point. In fact it's the reason were hated, mocked, trolled etc. 29 teams have a hockey team thats loved by there fans and backed by there city. They just can't deal with the fact that the Leafs have a "Nation" were everywhere, we'll come in and take your building. For 29 teams thats easy to hate.

**LizikaBostonBruins: Seems that Leafs continue to be on fire.... they showed that fire is stronger than flames!.... :) Well done again! Another win, 2 more points, 1st rank of the division, 1st rank of the conference! Keep it up Leafs!

**spudjohnston: Phaneuf's +- of +10 is hard to ignore considering he's playing huge minuites against the other teams top lines including tonnes of PK mins . Still finding time to throw out the odd huge hit and a couple goals so far. Anyone who's still a hater please tell me who you would replace him with that's available. I'll tell you one thing for sure.. If we don't re sign him at least half the league will be waiting to offer him 7 mill or more in free agent frenzy.

**Phlyonthewall: 7 million , 7 years down the road is going to feel like the greatest steal ever conducted. The numbers don't lie Phaneuf is worth every penny. We can't afford to lose a key piece of this team at this point. SIGN DION AND FAST

**AssaultnPepper: While I'm thrilled about the back to back wins and the 4 points, winning in this manner is not sustainable. Some people argue that the leafs are taking "quality" shots over quantity, but what happens when we face better opponents that also take "quality" shots? OCTOBER: Leafs vs Non-playoff teams: 7-1-0, Leafs vs Playoff teams: 3-3-0 In our next 3 games we have Vancouver and Boston both playoff teams and then later on in November we have Montreal and Pittsburg. Only 4 games (out of 13) against teams in playoff contention. One month from now we may still hold a top 3 position in the East, but we need to improve on all the things that involve increasing puck possession: - winning faceoffs - winning puck battles - fewer giveaways - etc
