Toews, Hossa lead Blackhawks past Jets

**Can't wait til Zeus and Bickell are back. such depth. we haven't had our full team since we got Versteeg. I want everyone on the ice. And I want Crawford to take a week off or something. He will be the downfall of our season if he doesn't fix his predictable mediocrity. Offensively strong playoff teams are going to continue to light him up if he doesnt change. Anyone think its possible that our goaltending is awful now because we lost our goaltending coach? The same coach that coached Niemi and Crawford to SC victories. We lost him to the Habs and the habs have the third least GA this season behind BOS and COL.. I think that may have been our offseason mistake. That and giving Crawford way too big of a contract.

**My idea for a Killer Bs line..Bicks and Saad on the wings with Pirri at centre..That would be Brian .Brandon and Brandon... Ben Smith can play in Bicks spot till he returns from injury

**Hawks will really need to find a solution to their PK woes before playoffs start. They will not go far especially when things start to tighten up in April with a horrendous PK. I'd rather have the useless PP from last year and a great PK than the opposite we are seeing this year.

**Well said fellow Anon. The 2011 Boston Bruins and the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks have proven that a bad PP will not cost you a Cup, but a good PK will win you a Cup. Many teams have proven a bad PK will lose you a Cup..

**Really coming into his own this year. You can literaly see how much more confident he is this season. He looks like Patrick Kane the way he hangs on to the puck for extended stretches just sorta skating around the offensive zone

**Yeah I hear you about centers always winning. Kinda bogus. Hoss is deserving. Was leading the NHL in take aways. Missed some games, but still only behind Datsyuk in that category. But look at the Hawks games where they don't have him compared to where they do. The difference is huge

**I posted in the preview yesterday that for the deepest Hawks team in my 55-year-old life, they sure miss one old man when he's out. the man makes every play. Unfortunately Little Pauly seems to have a lock on the Selke year in and year out. Nomination for Hoss would be nice though

**Great game by both clubs! So glad to have Hossa back in the lineup and toews/kane were both monsters. I love the Jets and are led by a great captain in Ladd.. If I were him I'd be sitting E.Kane down though, the shot after the whistle into seabrooks leg and that dirty leg out hit (forget who it was on) are trash. He is suppose to be a big supporting cast member on the Jet's team and hes not helping with his antics.

**Last night at one point there were 3 goals scored in 48 seconds. 2 by the Jets, 1 by the Blackhawks. All season long the Hawks have gotten into this pattern where they score & then the opposition answers almost immediately. It's OK if you win but they have to tighten-up the defense for sure & keep the foot on the gas

**I disagree. Crows in a bit of a rut but hes a good goalie. They all have their ups and downs. The one by Ellerby shoulda maybe been stopped. Ladd snapped one over his shoulder while all alone, and Byfuglien powered one through on a 5 on 3 PP. I thought Crow looked pretty good for the most part last night

**Crow just needs a rest is all. He's been playing in all but 2 games I think (its some ridiculous number like that). You watch him and you can see he's getting tired, just needs a few days off. Let Raatna get a start and give crow a breather on the bench.

**Crow has played in 21 of the teams 23 games. A number of back to back games too. The Hawks sure are missing Ray Emery right now. Goalie 39 has been a flop. A $2 million flop.

**Emery has been pretty bad in Philly and was similarly bad for us in the first year we had him. Last year's numbers from him definitely aren't sustainable, look at the big picture and his leaving isn't a big loss.

**Disagree Grolt, Have to look at how Emery did last year during the Cup run regular season. Most goalies going to Philly do poorly. The list is very long on that topic. Emery won many, many games last year, and gave Crawford much needed breaks. I contend with Emery this year, the Hawks record is the same or better and Crawford plays only15 of the current 23 games. But that is speculation as Emery is not here. But his minutes are sorley missed right now. Crawford looks tired.

**I would imagine there are some coaches on the bubble at this point, and if so I'd say Noel was one of them. Bigger things were expected of Winnipeg this season, and they've played very inconsistent up to this point. A few more losses, and I'd be surprised if they didn't make a change somewhere. Same goes for Richards in Columbus.

**I feel the same way about Noel, consistency in teams comes from a motivating coach, someone the players want to play and succeed for. The Jets are way too inconsistent....They beat San Jose, and then lose to Calgary? It just doesn't make sense to me. Other than that, good game Hawks, every time we play Chicago, they go and point out why they are champions.

**I like the Odell thing but I don't think the press box would help scheifele as much as 20 games in St John's. Most young guys outside top 3 overall picks per year need some time in the AHL

**Chicago! Why couldn't you guys take the night off and let us have a chance to take the league lead back!? lol....I like watching the Jets play. They just don't give up!..but the Hawks, well, they're the Hawks. Best of luck to both teams!

**Every goalie is "solvable." The problem when you play the Hawks is that even if you solve Crow you still have to outscore Toews, Hoss, Kane et.al. Good luck with that. Go Hawks!

**the Jets KANE seemed to be taking a few liberties out there....It's clear with his previous behavior he doesn't want to be there..the Jets should get rid of him now while they can get something in return..

**Toews and Hossa were men on a mission tonight. Incredible game from the captain. What worries me (it was mentioned slightly below as well) is that our two best defensemen have been forwards - Toews and Hossa. Our D last year played amazing, not saying they need to be top in the league again, but top 5-10 is necessary.

**Still one of the best tandems in Seabrook-Keith, Hjalmarsson is solid too. Can't have everything I mean there is a salary cap. I look at a team like the Wild and Suter is arguably better than Seabrook or Keith, but if anything happens to him they don't have that second blueliner of Keith or Seabrook quality.

**Theyve played more games than the teams who could have more points than us if they played as many games as we have. IMO STL and COL have better records. Dont be biased

**Go to individual stats on the homepage, they're under real-time stats. Kane has 9 giveaways (201st most in the league), and 20 takeaways (15th in the league - Hossa is 2nd after Datsyuk, get him a Selke). Note that giveaways to some extent come with lots of time on ice and lots of time having the puck. Kaner coughing it up at the opposition blueline is going to happen sometimes because he very frequently 1) has the puck 2) carries it into the zone (neither he nor the lines he usually ends up on are built for dump-and-chase, and he's really good at successfully carrying it in)

**The Toews goal was incredible. Unbelievable game for him tonight. I loved our offensive effort and pressure tonight, but really, we have to start playing defense. That's truly the thing that has been lacking this year compared to last. Way too many giveaways in our own end, some lazy coverage off the puck, and too much willingness to get into an offensive shootout than commit defensively. And as for committing defensively, we have to start getting in passing and shooting lanes on the PK and play a lot more aggressively. Opponents are getting whatever shot and look they want against us. To be honest, we're playing like the Penguins did last year, and that'll get you just far enough to be beat in the playoffs.

**well done Hawks. Jets put up a heck of a fight. Love it when opposing fans try to boo Kaner - makes him step up his game - and he certainly must irritate the fans with how good he has played against the jets
