Red Wings lose again at home, fall to Predators
**Wings lose another one in regulation like this, and if Montreal wins one, the Wings can say goodbye to #4 in the division...it's time to get real, fellas!**Seriously, people need to GET A GRIP! In 2008 we lost 10 of 11 games at one point, and went on to win a president's trophy and the Cup. From some of the despairing comments on here you'd honestly think this was some people's first ever season watching hockey. Chill out! Yes they stink right now, but it's not all death and despair.
**Definitely, I mean we are still 5 points clear of the Sens in the wildcard spot. No need to hit the panic button just yet.
**It is okay to be down on your team when they are struggling. That is kind of part of being a passionate fan. They do need to step their game up and have the track record for doing so, but comparing this team to the 2008 team is a bit silly...
**Messed up. This is totally messed up. I can't believe some fans are still calling this just a slump, this is just an average team now. We need to make a big trade.. or give Babcock a final warning.
**Oh get a grip. Have you never experienced a hockey season before!? Of course it's a slump, and I've seen them have a lot worse only to come back. In 2008 (the last year we won a cup since I assume by your ignorance that you don't know this) they lost 10 of 11 games in jan or feb. Get a grip.
**actually mr.nhl i have been a hockey fan longer than you have been alive....try watching a game from the 70s before there were many euros....hockey was vastly superior...and less cheap shots....also the international competion was much better to watch....we actullay had national pride back then...
**I don't think he watches hockey. Probably a pedofile looking for kids all day long and commenting on every message board, claiming to be a jersey fan and every other teams fans. Brutalllllll
**So hockey would be superior if the Oilers hadn't scouted in Europe and brought in Jari Kurri, Esa Tikkanen, or Kent Nilsson? Or if Fred Shero hadn't visited Europe and adapted some of their systems to the Flyers and Rangers? What about Europeans like Krzysztof Oliwa, Roman Polak, or Zdeno Chara who are as strong as any North American player? (I'm not European, but I like seeing my country's national sport grow in popularity in other countries. Also, I don't see how we can criticize European hockey in the post-1972 world, especially since, after the Summit Series, we started changing the way we play North American hockey by being more open to learning from European systems. Shero wasn't the only coach who did that.)
**The Wings have too many grinders and over the hill players. The team did well last year but older, less skilled players catch up to you.Miller, Cleary and Bertuzzi have to go, then bring up 3 younger faster more skilled plays like Nyquist for example.
**Cleary, yes. Bertuzzi, no. Funny that you didn't mention Samuelsson. Btw, since want to free up three roster spots, but only used Nyquist in your example, I'm curious as to whether you can even name the other two or three NHL-ready-ish prospects?
**I hope Mr. Todd Bertuzzi doesn't find out you've been bad mouthing him on here...I would live each moment in F E A R of that Bertuzzi death stare in your direction, buddy.
**This team is the biggest disappointment of the current season. Horrible moves by Holland. Our defensive zone is a joke. We need more energy and contact. We need Ericsson, Smith, Samuelsson, and Quincey out. We need Nyquist back. We need new trades RIGHT NOW.
**Samuelsson and Quincey. But at this point you just have to wait for their contracts to expire in the off season. Smith will get better, and Ericsson is solid. Hes our third best defender right now, behind Dekeyser and Kronwall.
**You dont know hockey very well. Only Quincey needs to go of the players you mentioned. You missed Bertuzzi, Miller and Cleary - they need to go. And yes, bring up Nyquist who never should have been sent down. You dont understand the skating and skill aspects of the game., the players that dont have that need to go.
**Energy and contact? Didn't Tootoo bring those characteristics to the wings? He was a DRW nemesis while a Predator. I always liked his game and thought he was a good sign by Holland. As far as some of his other recent moves or lack there of, KH seemingly has been less than desirable. Not winning the Suter sweepstakes sent this proud franchise back. If it was true he and Parise were going to a new team as a package, how good would the wings be?! Never understood the Samuelsson signing, either. Losing guys like Hudler and Filppula (?) are never easy to simply replace. The defense has had some tough luck with injuries the past two seasons. Not much a GM can do with that except plug the holes. I think Howard needs to play an arrogant, pissed off game to be successful. Above all else, SOMEHOW, the Detroit Redwings have to score more goals from all four lines.
**Pathetic loss nothing going at all . This past month has been a complete waste. November is going to be our easiest month and we have yet to win ONE game. Sick of this. It's now officially a problem we couldn't even beat the preds( no offence to them mazanec played great) make a trade to bring in some real Dmen and bring up nyquist, cleary can't do the job anymore and Sammy isn't helping either.
** watched the telecast on Fox Sports Detroit here in Michigan, and when the second intermission was going on, you could see people streaming out of the stands behind the announcers. Pathetic!
**Datsyuk is -5 in the last 4 games and Zetterberg is -4 in the last 3 they're just tired of carrying the team on their back since the 2010 season. this losing streak is really depressing and something needs to change
**I can't remember a time ever seeing the Wings struggle like this. I think it's high time they start getting rid of some of older guys like Bertuzzi, Cleary, Samuelsson... maybe even Franzen. It shouldn't be possible for one of these guys to be taking the spot of Gustav Nyqvist, who's shown great promise. Whatever the case, the Wings will make a few adjustments and be in the playoff mix come Spring. The whole Eastern Conference is just crawling along (the top EIGHT teams in the West would all be 1st place in the East!), so I'm sure the Wings will find away :)
**more than anything else - even more than the loss - and I think a lot of non american guys will agree - it pi**es me to get up @ night like 1.30 til 4.00 to watch that c_r_a_p the guys are showing on the ice. To loose is one thing but not to show anything (I leave away Dats and Z as usual along with a few guys who are showing heart but unfortunately are no difference makers such as Miller IMO) is more than just tough. I think as true fans we will forgive a loosing streak, we will even forgive missing playoffs after 22 years but we cannot forgive the lack of heart they show in front of the fans that come to the Joe and to the watchers around the world in consecutive games. after such games I guess booing is a legimate way to show ur frustration! I love that team but we deserve better
**I completely agree with your getting up at 1.30 AM comment. It's not pretty to watch this kind of effort late at night like that. Whatever happened to the team that held Chicago to seven games last playoffs?
**playoffs can be so strange. just not comparable to regular season. that loss to Hawks was tough as it was the end of the season for wings but at least we showed what were able to do. we were 3-1 and several Hawks fans even thought we would take the series. ok we lost in the end, but with dignity.
**Yeah. Horrible last minute signing. Cleary should have gone. He only wastes roster and cap space on our team right now because everything he brings to the ice, we can get cheaper with younger faster more skilled players.
**My concern is that they are now 22 games in to the season, over a quarter way through, and this is still a recurring problem. If they keep going at this rate the Red Wings will dig themselves in to a hole that they're not able to get out of, and that's why they need to get their act together really fast. Each game is just one game, but each game is part of a big picture, and the Wings just haven't looked good on many an occasion. They're at a point in the season where it should be cause for alarm.
**The GREAT Kenny Holland and Dr. Babs, if they can find in their schedules between mugging at the HOF and scouting for the Olympics, may soon come to the realization that they have a full time job and it should entail putting the best available team on the ice. Your lineup, Robert, looks much better than the beer league 3rd and 4th liners we had out there tonight (Cleary, Sammy I mean you).
