Stastny scores in OT to lift Avalanche past Stars
**Joshua Fitzpatrick; Was good to see Seguin show up, take the team on his back, against a quality opponent. Secondary scoring has got to pick up for the Stars, the first line is too easy to target right now. Lehtonen has been great for a few years now, hopefully he is not used up when the blue line kids are ready for the big league.**Gary Thurner; Varley is by no means out of the woods. But I have been following his girlfiends statements to the press. She is a wanna be Russian model. She has her laywers wife at the press conferences who happens to speak Russian and is a "friend" of her`s. She says she has been beat 5 times, nice round number, not 3 or 7, but, she loves him and wants to have hos baby's? The best statement was yesterday when she said "he put my things outside the aparment, what's he think...that I'm a dog? Sounds like there could be a bit of payback, or perhaps shakedown here. Varley has claimed his innocence, and I am going to wait and see.
**soulchief; Expect her story to change today as well, she's just after her 15 minutes of fame. She said she cancelled a beauty contest in Hong Kong? Does anyone know if there was actually a beauty contest there in the last week and she was a contender? Hopefully once Varly is proven innocent, he sues her and her scamming buddies for all the damage it's caused to his name.
**SittinInTheSinBin; He cancelled access to his Credit card on Sunday, booted her out on Monday. Tuesday, she hires an injury lawyer (a friend and her husband, no less), Wednesday, she files the report saying he's been abusive the entire time they've been together and is a raging alcoholic (sure, cos it makes sense a pro-athlete can do as well as he is being a raging drunk). Google her name. Evgenia Vavinyuk. You see pics of her modeling anywhere on there? Does her name even exist on google without this story? No. She's a wannabe model looking for cash.
**LordJamieBenn; Hardly, they were both good but both Stars goals were all because of Seguin, anyone could of put in the first goal Stastny got... Tanguay did all the work and set him up for the open net. Besides their points they got Seguin was much more noticeable on the ice throughout the game, feel free to hate but I don't think anyone thought the Stars were going to get a point out of this game going into the 3rd and Seguin and Kari made it happen by themselves.
**KevNCo; Respectfully disagree LordJB... Stastny was all over the ice, making his presence known. His work and intelligence is what made Tanguay's talent shine. 2 goals - including the game winner in OT warrants 1st Star in my opinion, not being the key player for two goals in a losing effort. Seguin is a beast! Everybody wishes he played for their team so no hate here - just reality. (I would have chosen Lehtonen as the only Dallas star of the game to be honest - could have been 3-0 in the 1st if it weren't for him! )
**87maritimefan; Great that the Av's let their goalie who has charges of assault against him, yet not proven, to play. Sends a great message. If he is proven guilty this will only show that the Av's have no issue with abuse against a spouse/common law/girlfriend. Winning is everything to Roy I guess, but expect nothing less from a hot head guy with a past.
**Khaby; No matter whats proven, your post shows you're an ignorant @zzh0le. How exactly is the club to know whether he did it or not until it goes to trial? Unless the entire organization was there watching ringside, then only two people know for sure what happened.
**Avshockey55; How about Landy, huh? After he wouldn't fight previously in the year, he really showed that he's not afraid to throw down. And that pass from MacKinnon was a beauty. That is confidence from an 18-year-old. GG Stars, you really gave us a run.
**KevNCo; Milan Lucic was the would-be opponent. Landy isn't a fighter and EVERYONE knows Lucic was a complete a$$$ for even trying to go there - Didn't Lucic get a 10 min misconduct for that one?! Landy is plenty tough, and quite intelligent too!
**Neptune0100; got a little too comfortable, complacent. i try to not take the off-ice activities into consideration, whatever they may be. but man, it's too bad he couldn't perform at over a P/PG pace like this last year in the playoffs...
**SeguinDallas; Salary cap.... That's really it, they tried to make the guy look bad to "help" the fans justify the trade. They signed him to a contract that started this year that they wouldn't be able to afford with the two new contracts they stuck this summer with Rask and Bergereon. Try to find one Bruin who had a bad thing to say about Seguin, his style and contract didn't fit for the Bruins so they had to trade him and Pevs. Feel free to say Pevs was thrown in the trade because he partied too much as well, trades never happen because of the cap (especially when it goes down) they both partied way too hard..... smh
**Avalanche_Ice; Lemme see... Once upon a time, the Nordiques came to Colorado, after much deliberation they decided to call themselves the Avalanche. Now, that year they acquired a goalie, you may have heard of him, his name is Patrick Roy. Who would've thought that very year would result in a Stanley cup. Something they repeated a few years later on in 2001. Following on.. From their birth as the Avs, they made the playoffs every year, until 2006. A shock and a horror to all of Denver and Colorado fans everywhere when in 2007, they failed to make the playoffs. What spoiled lil fans they have! They made the play offs again in 2008 and again in 2010.. The lock out year's included in this, my apologies if that annoys any. Now what point where you trying to make? I'm kinda lost. Minus the last few seasons, and no one of the Avalanche, team, management or fans, would claim for an instant that they were contenders. It's called rebuilding.. So please. Again, your point? If I've misquoted the years, my apologies, as for you, Mr Kevin, as far as being cup contenders.. Sometimes you've just gotta believe. Cheers.
**AvsandCanes; First star of the game is Varlamov in my opinion (without using his stats to support this). Being able to put his issue aside for the sake of the team proved to me that he's gotten a lot tougher, mentally, over the years. That kind of confidence in one's game is something that Colorado has lacked between the pipes since Roy left. I hope now, more than ever, that he is proven innocent in his case. With that being said, the boys played a hard game tonight, and was up against one ot the hottest goaltenders and most hard-working teams in the league. Glad to come away with the W after everything that's gone down over the past couple of days.
**TheAvsWillRiseAgain; Was hoping to see jiggy in this game, thought all the outside junk would be distracting but glad we came away with the win. Pretty entertaining game, stars definitely pushed it. Seguin and Benn are a great combo. And how about lehtonen? Wow. Hoping we destroy the habs tomorrow (with respect of course). Go Avs!
**LUONGO_MUST_STAY; So it's nice to see Varly wasn't pressed charges after his little, ahem... Incident. But it's nice to see Colorado do so good. I doubt a record like that can hold all season but it's a start on the path to glory. Nice job Avs, and nice job to the Stars for pushing Colorado once again. I have high hopes they'll be the ones to put an end to their winnings.
**FitzCanada; I'm really looking forward to seeing this Dallas team on Sunday! Seguin is always entertaining and Jamie Benn is one of the most underrated players in the sport. It's unfortunate that some players (Benn, Chiasson, etc) don't get the recognition they deserve simply because of where they play, and that's not meant as an insult to the organization, just stating a sad fact. It's going to be a Military Appreciation game on Sunday in Ottawa, and my father won tickets at work (he's in the military) and will be on the ice when the Chief of Defence drops the puck. He's very excited and honoured to be a part of it :) It's great to see sports teams and other organizations and their fans show support for the troops. So if anybody reading this is a service member, be it Canadian, American, European, wherever you serve, I'd like to thank you for your service! Here's hoping for a good game on Sunday!
**Avalanche_Ice; That's bit of a biased comment. Yes, you could say they bandwagoned on after the second cup. However, I did the same as well, noted I only moved to Denver and moved to the US that year, and I have been a fan since. It's also good to note that, the years since, particularly the last handful have been the darkest for the Avs. So if any fan rode that storm, bandwagon or not, they're true fans.
