Avalanche top beat-up Hurricanes, now NHL-best 9-1-0

**Ward being out= another losing season. Let's hope that when he gets back, as John Forslund used to say, we can 'Turn on the juice'.

**wow surprised to see that the Avs are being more aggressive and doing a better job at protecting their leads. respect from Tampa

**Pfft....no one's impressed. Oh wait....actually, that's pretty impressive. This team has been showing signs of brilliance for the last couple years. We all knew they were up and coming. Question is....are they for real and ready to go? So far it certainly seems so. They're young, they're fast, the play a team game, everyone is filling their individual roles... I'm not gift wrapping the cup for em yet, but they're off to a bangin' start.

**This team plays solid D in their own zone, and make quick short passes to get it out, which results in speed between the lines, and creates odd man rushes and offense.

**Avs have a lot of young talent that have 3-4 years experience now. That goes a long way. Roy has been the catalyst, but the players are getting it done on the ice. They look great on special teams, It's a team effort, not luck that's winning games. You surround all this talent with the likes of Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy, well you are seeing the results now. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the goal tending and Matt Duchene......Dutchy has been brilliant. Spin Dr.

**this team reminds me why i fell in love with the avs in the late 90's early 00's after the whalers left im glad to see they have the talent again

**My only complaint is that Hejduk had to leave us after last year... Would love to see him and Tanguay score a few together under Roy, Sakic, Foote, etc. He was not part of the problem last year as we can all see. I bet his #'s would be back to par with this year's AVs.

**WOW, Colorado! Respect! Nice to see this Franchise on top again. Hope the Flames can manage this too! Roy seems to be the perfect fit. Hope the team can battle back if they should loose some games in a row. Good luck! Fun to see this team playing!

**Whether the AVS are good or not, I could not really care less...I just wait for the day when someone knocks the s**t out of Roy....and I guarantee, by seasons end, it will happen.

**Keep dreaming. 1) No one would lay a finger on Roy, 2) Roy hasn't blown up since first game (which was just to prove to his players he has their backs) and 3) Roy would kick anyone's a**.

**Dont_Mase_:If you could all ignore ku5hman, that would be great. He's making the rest of us look bad. Anyways, I'm glad the Avs are starting to prove their start to the season is more then just luck. I'll be rooting for you guys from the Eastern Conference.

**gehedan:Funny how after Roy blew a gasket everyone was calling him every name in the book. Seems like after proving how a coach can motivate and lead with pride that all the haters have crawled under their rocks. Fun team to watch and I wish Roy and Avs all the best this season.

**brycar75:love the way they play! first time since 2004 they give me a reason to watch their games again so it feels good to see them back on track! if sharks and avs are top two in the west this year i'll be quite happy!

**Anonymous: Avs are currently playing some excellent hockey. No one can argue that. Anyone who knows and considers all the variables realizes that things can quickly change. It is too early in the season for any real test of adversity to be confronted and overcome. How will they react to their first losing streak? Only time will tell. This is a very unpredictable game. While they certainly look like a play off contender at the present time, will the hockey gods continue to smile upon them? We can only speculate.

**impresario: At what point will people stop asking the Avs to prove themselves? They've beat some really greats teams - pens, ducks, bruins, leafs - and lasted ten games so far with only one loss, they deserve some more credit, and people need to see them as a force to be reckoned with instead of a lucky team who are destined to fail again.

**SittinInTheSinBin: All of us in Denver blame the management and coaching staff from the last few seasons. It's been rough, even Jiggy blasted the team publicly last year, saying he was sick of hearing about people's vacations in the middle of the season. Now? It's a totally different atmosphere. Roy acts like part coach, part captain, part player, and part Hockey Mom. The team loves their new found glory and it's evident.

**TheAvsWillRiseAgain: to assume theyll keep up a rate of 9-1 (one loss every ten games) all season is ridiculous, of course. But that doesn't mean they still cant finish near the top

**KevNCo:The Real Deal?I think so - Unbelievable talent across 4 lines, Goaltenders as well, and the D are all finally being coached now. When you'd hear about Sacco, you'd naturally think, "he can't be that bad, these guys just aren't good". Enter Roy, Allaire, Foote, and of course Sakic, Humble mentality, one game at a time attitude, well thought out line combos, team effort, etc. They are the real deal. Early in the season? Yes. But -The AV's will play the 11th game just like the 23rd game, just like the 82nd game if Roy has anything to do with it!

**Mayo Balasubramaniam:I'm a Habs/Sharks fan, but I have to admit, the Avs are doing slightly better then the Sharks now. The only reason I say this is because they got wins against more impressive teams. Before we faced the teams, I thought the Sharks biggest challenges were going to be the Sens and the Blues. The Avs, so far, has beaten the Pens, Bruins, Ducks and Leafs, so I find them a bit more impressive. Keep doing what you guys are doing, cause it seems to be working

**hobbes09 :Every team wins games they should lose (vs. Pittsburgh) and looses games they should have won (vs. Detroit). And with the chances we had in the first two periods, it could have easily been a 3 or 4 goal difference if the Canes goalie didn't play as well as he did.

**Grant Reuter:Um no... We out shot the Wings 30-16 in the last two periods. Gustavsson stood on his head, otherwise we would have had a couple more goals. That was one of the better games they played this year. The only crappy part of that 3rd period was the last minute +. Where we were looking for the perfect shot while still being down by 2.

**Khaby :It was good, that injury and subsequent power play really set us off our game though. I cant wait for the rematch later this year. Best thing about Detroit going to the east?....Possible SC show down! Twould be epic!

**soulchief: Watch one of their games :) If they're on their "on night", they'll skate circles around the other team and they seem to make odd man rushes whenever they feel like it. If they're on their "off night", they give the fans heart attacks (give up a lot of shots) but they still manage to keep the puck out of their net and get a couple giveaways which they put in the other teams net.

**RockyRox:Spot on comment. Avs are impressive. Happy for Roy and McKinnon is doing great. All aspects of Avs play is solid, especially between the lines. I thought the Blues were going to be the toughest opponent for my Hawks this year but the Avs seem to be the team to beat now. Fun team to watch, especially that performance by Giguere against the Pens but it was also a solid team effort. Hope everyone stays healthy, you guys deserve a top franchise, it's been a while. Good luck to you guys (except when playing the Hawks of course).

**RockyRox: Teams who get outshot lose more often than teams who don't, that's a fact. It doesn't matter where they come from IMO, there is always a chance to pick up loose change, a tip, a goalie mistake. I like that system.

**SittinInTheSinBin: They've really only been severely outshot in 2 out of 10 games, and one of them was an atrocious outing (Pitts with 5 PP's in the first 22 minutes). It's not like teams are leading them by 20 shots every game.
