Kings rally, beat Sharks in overtime
**gwbrown52006: Lets face it, the pacific division is the best division in the league. Both teams always go to the play offs and both teams and fans should respect that. Look at the standings of the sharks, look at their statistics. I like to salute the kings for a hard win. I wanted the sharks to win perhaps next game. Both teams will be in the play offs and both teams deserve to be. The sharks will again face our rivals and we will defeat them. The game could of gone either way. **gullsplayer77; I don't understand why so many Sharks fans are saying it was their worst game of the year. I personally thought they played a great game. Both teams did. The reason there were turnovers isn't because one team was playing poorly, it was because the opposing team was putting pressure on them. The too-many men calls were a little lack of discipline, but also due to the fact that the Kings had put the Sharks on their heels in a way that they hadn't been placed yet. I feel as if the game could have gone either way. Awesome game to watch, for both fans. Glad with the win, would have been happy at the improvement even if we lost. Great game Sharks, see you next time for another nail-biter!**boojitsu; This was the most exciting game to see for me. I also don't see why people say it's the WORST game we played. I thought we were slower and had poorer plays in Ottawa / Montreal games. Braun and Stuart had some pretty poor plays last night, but i feel like it was counterbalanced by some great plays by other plays (Thornton save, the vlasic 1 timer, etc.) Overall a close game and a good game to show the Sharks where we need to be stronger (powerplays, discipline in line changes, clearing the puck safely, etc.)
**John Tran; dont know what game you saw but the kings didnt steal anything. if anything the sharks gift wrapped the game. stuart, irwin, mccarthy especially. they had bad turn overs and just played poorly. then you have sheppard (both too many men on the ice penalties), kennedy who couldn't exit the defensive zone, and havlat who wasn't really all that impressive in his return and you have our top 9 just dragging. the kings made some mistakes but they seemed to be more on top of their game and the score shows it. they deserved the win and the sharks deserved a loss.
**boojitsu; Both sides made some terrible plays that lead to goals (turn-overs in defensive zone, for example). Both teams took a lot of unnecessary penalties (our too many men ones were the worst though). Both teams scored on power-plays (we got 1, they got 2), and both teams fought hard. Were we the same team that won 8 in a row? Of course not, but it was still our game to lose (we were ahead the entire game).
**kings20twelve; I hope AEG will start subsidizing Kings fans for their heart problems the way the Kings have been playing lately. Up and down, up and down. Anyways, SJ has a great hockey team this year... I'm glad we could steal one from them. It's really sad how much whining is going on down these boards, but it's normal after a tough loss. Go Kings Go! Love singing "Nieeeemiiiiiii"
**John Tran; didnt steal the win. kings deserved to win. great game none the less. i just love how california hockey is so dominant and every once in a while you hear a "old schooler" say something stupid like "if you dont have frozen lakes you don't deserve hockey". NO if your area can support a team through good or bad you deserve hockey.
**kings20twelve; CA Hockey is thriving. Love the battleforcali blog as well. :) It's not true for most folks, but certainly I've come across Wild fans who think that their terrible weather should earn them everything they want. We can have our cake and eat it too in Southern Cal. I know Kings players love living in Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach.
**John Tran; haha totally read that same blog! and like you said there are some fans of more "traditional" hockey markets who say "no natural ice no hockey" which is annoying to say the least. but hockey is thriving and doing well in california and i'm glad.
**Phillip; You know they used to interview opposition team players a lot more than they do now. Overall coverage is better for the Kings and they are trying to focus and still introduce some fans (presumably) to the team since it is still early in the season. I wonder if they will interview other teams more as the season goes along. Generally speaking, teams that are not successful will tend to interview opposition teams more to shy focus away from hometown losers and/or just to keep it entertaining... Maybe the Kings winning has something to do with it.
**SystematicChaos; Hm, well the reason I ask is because our commentators interviewed Stoll during the second intermission, wondering if it was like a mutual swap and maybe Marleau was talking to the LA commentators. Seems like the Shark broadcasters interview an opposing player every other week or so, just wondering if that's common.
**John Tran; it's up to the local media that does it. i think by interviewing other teams it gets fans involved in the league as a whole. i remember years ago i only kept track of the sharks roster for the most part (along with bruins and wings) but now i keep track of the whole league. it also helps that nhl now has fantasy hockey as well so that gets people more involved in rosters from out of area groups and perhaps exposes the sport to new fans beyond just their local team.
**Robert Lee; And you people get your water from damning up a part of the Yosemite Valley...why don't ya take a bow? The only water you create is from your self-righteous tears over a loss. Get over yourselves. Having one line that seems to like using a 6 on 5 is your problem, not ours...unless you figure the officials would cheat for you...again...as with Ryan Clowe's stick on the ice in 2012?
**SystematicChaos; Honestly... I thought that was hilarious the way Quick just rolled all over him then sat on him. Really exaggerated the whole situation, but it was exactly like the call on Clifford (neither were intentional, just driving the net kinda recklessly)
