Steen scores again, Blues hold off Flames

**Alexander Steen took matters into his own hands Thursday night as his St. Louis Blues defeated the Calgary Flames 3-2 at Scottrade Center.

**Blues, don't scare me like that again, hate when they take their foot off the gas pedal and relax with the lead! I was in heart-attack mode for the remainder of the game after the Flames scored their second, glad my boys could hold on and get the W! Flames, good game, way to stick with it and battle back!

**Really, the game was won/lost in the first period/beginning of the second. The Flames only found their legs in the third and it's very difficult to score three goals in one period. Maybe if we'd had Glencross and Stempniak in the line-up we might have been able to tie up but with your amazing defence (we miss Jaybo and remember Leopold well) and goaltending, plus our lack of PP scoring, it was too steep a hill to climb. Blues are definitely going to make some noise this year.

**Tarasenko is all alone to the rebound.Lapierre can deflect the puck right infront of the goalie. Steen can make moves infront of goal while all 5 flames players are back defending.Flames: How do you want to win`games?

** bhfanjb3 days ago Blues, good to get the win, looked great first period and a half. Please clean up the second period let down and undisciplined play before Sid the Kid and Geno roll into town. PLEEEEASE!

**Totally agree. The Sobotka penalty late seemed like bogus call, looked like the puck came under his legs during the faceoff but his hands went to the ice so the linesman below the faceoff circle called him for concealing the puck since he couldnt see it.

**Coming close after a three goal deficit shows spirit; but getting behind early costs a game. It exhibits that the Flames seem to be lacking strong defense. By and large, getting the two points is critical because the league is getting tougher by the day.

**With Hartley the Flames will not win any game. What this guy is coaching is awful. What this guy lines up from the 1th to 4th line is awful. He mixes just randomly player together who can't play together. Hartley has his favorits and Sven isn't one of his. Sven is basically done as long Hartley stays. Sven isn't a 3th or 4th line player. He won't learn anything good there nor will he make a difference. Hope an other Team will pick him soon. I would.

**Honestly Hartley has been much better than Keenan and Sutter. Sadly yes this year he's made extremely stupid line decisions. FreeBaertschi!

**Our powerplay kills us! Man, this is awful. Now other teams have a good strategy against the Flames: Let's make some penalties to get the Flames into the powerplay. They do not score! LoL. No, really. We have to score on our powerplay. If you get a chance at the end of a game and you cannot send one shot at the goal, that is gonna break your neck. At least we found our Number 1 goalie. Berra looks good, even when we loose the games. Big saves again! Hope Hartley goes on with the "Berracuda"! Maybe we can surprise the Avalanche tonight! Again, big team effort! Go Flames Go!

**No he did not! Could he save more shots? NO! Berra can be the next Kipper, or even better! He is taller an as quick as Kipper, so? Goalie is not the problem! Look at Kippers stats last season! Poor defense, poor goalie stats!

**Jackman on Jackman crime it was bound to happen sooner or later. I think everyone with the same last name in the NHL should fight at least once im looking at you Staals

**Wow, I thought the Blues were gonna let this one slip away. What a great 40 minutes by the Blues. I must give the Flames the 3rd period. They played hard, and earned the 2 goals. I am not gonna say much about the zebras. Everyone saw the game "except" them lol.

**Glad the Blues won & got the 2pts. Not real c/r/a/z/y about the way they played the final 20-25mins though. Kudos to the Flames for finding their legs in the 2nd & making a game of it. Blues should know by now that you don't take your foot off the pedal, no matter who the opponent is. They play like that vs the Pens on Saturday, it's probably not the same outcome as tonight. 7 straight penalties too, not cool! Congrats to Steen (once again), Lappy, and Tarasenko. Good outing by Elliott too. GG, Flames

**Lets develop our young stars by not playing them, solid plan! I understand the first bench, then you could see him playing WAY harder in all 3 zones, then another bench, and then another? I think hartley should be focusing on getting the defense to play the game and not tunnel vision on the puck while people skate freely in the slot, or am I wrong?
