Islanders rally, beat Senators in shootout

**Kozmo Sammartino; Considering Nabokov made a few great stops in the shootout, and didn't cost the team with his soft goals in the end, you guys may want to hush up about his play. He doesn't get much recognition when he plays well, and gets so much criticism when he has a rough night.

**LizikaBostonBruins; Was a tight game all along, nothing to be ashamed of Sens. You're a great team, no matter what the result of this game was, you have many wins to come! Go Sens!

**LifeLongIslesFan; I like Nabby and sometimes he has a good game but we need a real goalie like Lehner or Anderson. And of course a D or two. I know this has been beaten to death already but come on!

**girouxsalem2112; Games like this are prime examples as to why Karlsson didn't win the Norris. Sure he puts up a monster number of points, but his positioning in the defensive zones is iffy sometimes.

**Caarl; And he isnt playing how he really can play... Whenever the forwards start playing better you'll see Karslon's +/- go up and his point production, mainly the defensive game of the forwards and being able to come back down the ice and help with D whenever he takes a risk...

**JonSly; I think its the pressure. His Norris winning season, no one expected him to win it and even if he had a bad night, no one smashed him in the media as he was a star on the rise at the time. Now people are like Karlsson's got to win the Norris every year.Hes so focused on offense, he forget about D all together.

**reteric19; This year you'll find no one arguing he deserves a Norris, but given he was at or near the top of the defensive advanced stats the year he won, AND put up a truckload of points, he absolutely deserved it the year he won.

**Avalanchefan2304; Seriously Sens you got some nice offense, but 57 SHOTS AGAINST thatsss waayyyyyy too much. Get a good defenseman sooner rather than later...

**Dominic Intravaia; A win like this still does not address the bigger issue. Acquiring Vanek is huge, but here is the problem, who is the franchise goalie that could've stolen this game in regulation? Playing from behind I can see in the regular season, but the Islanders this time around can't be spotting teams 2 goal leads in the 1st period. Upon playoff time, it spells 1st round doom again.

**Dan; Nice to see the NYI win but! : -Grabner and Vanek need to finish breakaways -NYI need to pass more accurately and stop giving the puck up - Look when they shoot the puck on goal(no reason the puck shouldn't go on need when point blank) - Get better sticks!!! At least 1 or 2 break a game

**jedenchalan; Oh my, that Vanek pass was a beauty. I still expect him to do better, he's a streaky guy, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a bunch of multiple points games in the near future.

**Leaf Hayter; I was at the game, I stood up and clapped when they scored that goal. Some other Sens fans gave me looks. It was a gorgeous pass and deserved a standing O. I'm a hockey fan first, and a Sens fan second... But it helps that the Islanders are my second fav team

**Will Robertson; The Islanders need to make smarter outlet passes. They are turning the puck over way to much in there own zone and in the neutral zone and teams are really making them pay. If the Isles get smarter with the puck, then they will be winning 5-1 instead of going to shootout in a game they dominated.

**Raymond Lepage; Absolutely, they should. Anderson is doing a good job in front of the net, but he's not performing miracles as was the case last year before his injury. Murray should trade him while he still has value. A top Edmonton rookie + a top draft pick would help them get back what they lost to Anaheim when they traded for Ryan. It would appear that Murray forgot that his team was supposed to be in "rebuild" mode. It looks like it's back to the drawing board for the Sens. This team is going nowhere this year.

**jo1986; Going nowhere this year? Why is everyone panicking? It's only one month in, the season is long this year, it's like everyone thinks its a shorter season again!

**Chris Fortin; no, you can't blame the defense on this. The defense is 2 players out of the 5 skaters. Trading Anderson to the Oilers won't help us because we need more 2-way forwards, and the Oilers are in the same boat as Ottawa is.

**uchihafire8; ATTENTION JACK CAPUANO. i love nabby and i know this is a back to back but you must play poulin more often. please. it is wats best for the team. poulin can be a franchise goaltender. let him play. dont let him get cold and nabby tired. we need him for the playoffs.

**Trump; Yep Isles have to roll both goalies. Although Nabokov is facing a bit of criticism from some of your fans, I consider him to be a very fine goaltender still, and I absolutely love his vintage upright stance. But he's not going to play forever, and if Poulin is to be the future Islander goaltender, they need to start playing him more now to make a smooth transition.

**Voice; So is Karlsson 13 points but -3. Look at highlights of the SJ/OTT game and his backchecking (especially on the Wingles goal). On the Desjardin goal he was the last man back of the 5 on the ice. This is nothing new, he may be a top level scorer, but he makes plays horribly in his own end.

**Nathan Fry; He might be second best Defensive Dman behind Methot, but point well taken. Phillips is good positionally, and stabilizes a lot back there. Karlsson and Wiercoch need to settle down in their own end, and our forwards need to make sure that support down low is more consistent. Every game, too many odd man rushes and scoring chances given up.

**BattlinBilly; Lehner should have been first star, 3 breakaways stopped cold. 53 of 57 saves on the night. This guy was the reason it was not 7 or 8 goals scored for Islanders. Snow should be taking a good look at this man for a trade..Nabby let in a bunch of softies tonight. He played great last game, soft this game. We need a sold number 2 goalie to get Nabby a little more rest.
