Khudobin makes 34 saves as Hurricanes top Panthers

**and suddenly all those panther "fans" who railed on me all year for calling it like it is have disappeared and im all thats left. congrats panthers ownership (excluding viola cause we'll judge him this offseason if he doesnt spend the cap) on ur 16th playoffless season in 20 years. we truly are unrivaled

**This just in...Russia invades Kazakhstan in order to claim Khudobin as Russian and their #1 goalie for Sochi

**Not necessary. Khudobin was born in Kazakhstan, but has Russian citizenship. So the Russians should've been looking at him already. Somehow I think they'll be okay with the guys they have though.

**In 2006 The Canes had a goalie by the name of Gerber who ruled the regular season. Come playoffs he fell on his face and a Rookie by the name of Cam Ward who came in and lead the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup. My point is we are not sure what Khudobin can do in the playoffs, he is untested, but we know what Ward can do. Let's wait until the end of the season and let JR figure this out.

**well I personally have a strong faith in Khudobin. sure he hasn't proven himself in the playoffs YET but I'm confident to say that he'll do that this year with Canes ;)

**that's true, but if khudobin continues his play, he has every right to be the starter and start in the playoffs, if he falls on his face, we put him cam. it doesn't need to be difficult

**Canatic, my point exactly. Keep Cam around until Khudobin proves himself in the playoffs then if we can sign him in the offseason we can trade Cam. But what if we trade Cam now and then Khudobin signs with another team, what do we have then?

**We all know the story. But I'd say we know even less about Khudobin than what he can do in the playoffs. How will he hold up to the workload of a #1 goalie? Granted, he's been a stud since the first of the year, but can he hold up to that kind of load over the course of an 82 game season? The guy hasn't played but half that many games in his entire career so far. I'm definitely a believer, but I'm not ready to crown him as the next Tretiak just yet.

**if we make playoffs, dobby does well in playoffs, then you sign dobby, by that time maybe 50+ games behind him with playoff experience. that amount of work with success should be rewarded by being the starter.

**the 2010-11 season was the last stellar season Cam had. let's not forget. he had a decent 2011-12 season with .915 save% but nothing w-l 30-23. good but not great. granted we had a horrible defense but still.

**That 4-1 lead in the first was deceiving. Panthers had some prime scoring chances (how many posts did they hit? ) after defensive breakdowns. But good win and I Khudobin was again very strong in net. In this division, every game from here on out is pretty much a must win. Hoping Dobby get's the start again tonight and another 2 pts !! Go Canes !

**shuty, you are correct. Everyone is praising Khudobin for his performance last night but we could have lost that game easily if not for some great defense in front of him. His rebound control still scares me. He is winning and until that stops then he stays in net.

**Khudobin is an amazing example of how patience can pay off in this league. He's been around for years putting up numbers that warrant way more starts than he got, yet if he were just a year younger he'd still be eligible for Calder. Instead of just getting frustrated with not getting the starts he probably deserved, he's waited for this chance to shine and now he's running with it. Had my eye on him for years and Im glad to see he's finally getting some real play time.
