the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-2 win against the New York Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.

Avalanche top Islanders to end trip on high note

**The Isles are the first team to get to 200 goals against, snatching that honor away from the Oilers. Man they need some D & a goalie bad, hope guys will be more willing to sign once they're in Brooklyn.

**Laughable officiating in the third, though I'm happy the Avs showed resilience and extremely happy to see Duchene net 100 and 101! Good luck to Varly, Stats, Dutchie, and Landy in Sochi!

**MacKinnon, 22nd, seriously? lolll kid is such a monster! So glad Avs took him! Way to get franchise back on track!!

**So, are the Isle keeping their 1st this year or using it next year? Buffalo fans, what do you want? If I was a Buffalo fan, I would want the first next year. Have as many shots at McDavid as I can get.

**I hope Islanders will end in this season fast, because the not let go healthy visnovsky on olympiad. Yes sure he is not ok, that is why he spend on ice so much time. Gosh Islanders managment full of idiots

**Someone tell me please how is possible that Visnovsky didnt go to Olympics (Symptoms of concussion) and tonight he played NHL game, 100% fit, 2 points in the game and no problem.

**Duchene made my sons 1st game unforgettable. We made a sign to Duchene saying 1st game how about a puck. And he pointed him out and tossed him a puck. WHAT A GREAT GUY and player. Now my sons fav player for life. GOOOO AVS!!!!!!

**Despite another almost blown lead, this was a good win. Good job Dutchy, hopefully you can gain that scoring touch back after the break! Also, MacKinnon is a total beast! Just goes to show that you don't go blindly Drafting players that the media tells you to.

**Everyone wanted Jones to get picked 1st Overall. When it was announced that Roy/Sakic were taking MacK, it was just a storm of people bashing the Avs for passing on Jones.

**Two of his assists were basically a non factor in the play. His assist on Duchene's second was nice, but the whole rest of the game I didn't notice him at all. The other three guys were all over the ice all game and I agree with the stars

**Good to see Duchene get a couple goals before the Olympics, nice win Avs! Also that Mackinnon is an absolute stud if he doesn't win the Calder it will be a joke, definitely the right choice in drafting him.

**The only thing nice about this game was the stadium series jersey.....*sigh* there go any hopes of making the playoffs :/ At this point, how about they just lose every game until the end of the season and try to beat out buffalo for that 1st overall pick?

**To bad they only scored because of 5 penalty's called in 4 minutes, i thought Jiggy was going for a shutout until those 5 on 3's happened.

**Vanek is a great player, but he denied the Islander's contract offer so he is not going to be an Isle for much longer. In my opinion, Buffalo won that trade. Moulson and Tavares had much better chemistry. The Islanders got s crewed on that deal. Really stinks for The Isles.

**It's not even opinion that Buffalo won the trade, it's fact! They got a 1st and 2nd rounder out of the deal as well, and Vanek does not even want to play on New York. Even if Moulson walks away from Buffalo too, they still can laugh all day while picking two times in the top 10

**actually nyi can defer to next year and lose the 2nd rounder this year 1st next year. Tavares, strome, okposo, Reinhardt and pulock are a good core just need to develop 3 of them

**As much as it would mean admitting that they were wrong, and giving a solid apology for sending him to the worst team in the NHL, I really think Isles should be at least trying to get Moulson back. You can't buy chemistry, and he has shown a lot of class through the whole thing. Just get the guy back, fools!

**5-2?? Did I miss something? hahaha! On another note i thought we played very well until we started taking penalties. So happy for Dutchy to get 100!! (and 101). Good luck to all the Avs going to Sochi. Go Avs Go!

**Jack can't take this team any further. He did well to a point but they need an in your face coach and some more in your face players. Accountability! How can you not feel for JT right now. He busts it out night after night and only a few of these guys are responding. Avs have a good young team

**JT deserves better, idk whether it's the management or if he needs more talent around him though. If it's talent that could be fixed as early as next season, if not........

**Then how do you explain Winnipeg and Philly? Fired their coaches and got much better production from teams with average talent.

**I wouldnt compare us to you. We've actually got a lot of talent, they just need to mesh together, which theyve done recently.

**You know you don't know anything about hockey when you don't know that throwing your stick at an opposing player while he shoots on an empty net will result in a goal.

**Mackinnon is an absolute beast and is now leading the Avalanche in goals averaging less ice time than the other top forwards
